I work with people who are you feeling anxious or depressed or uncertain how to live in a way that feels satisfying. With people who have suffered bereavement, the end of a relationship or who are struggling with relationships that aren't working and leave them feeling unhappy. With people who are unhappy at work and feel stuck in a job that isn't what they'd hoped it would be, a job that's too challenging or not challenging enough. With people who are struggling with ways of being sexual, who find it hard to have the kind of sexual relationships they want, to know how to begin, negotiate or end intimate sexual relationships.
The approach to therapy that I take, namely existential therapy, emphasises the freedom of the client to bring as much or as little of themselves to sessions as they desire. In my experience this approach tends to open up possible ways of seeing ourselves in the world providing us with novel ways of being that were previously difficult to imagine.
I try to be as open as possible to whatever you bring to sessions. Sometimes I'll say very little, other times I may say quite a lot. My aim is always to respond to you as you are in a way that helps you to clarify how you find yourself, how you're feeling, what sense you make of your current predicament and what options there may be for a better future.
