I am a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, trauma therapist and EMDR practitioner. I am registered and accredited member of the BACP. My primary way of working aims to work with the individual as a whole, through helping the client understand their thought and emotional processes. I work on the basis that each individual is able to direct themselves through their difficulties in the best way for them, and that my work is to help deepen their self-exploration and exploration of their difficulties so that clients are better equipped to navigate through their difficulties.
My approach when working with clients suffering with trauma starts with creating safety in the form of the self-soothing, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, grounding and introduction to work on body orientation and arousal state. This is to help trauma affected individuals to cope with their emotions prior to and during processing trauma.
