I’m an Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, working with individuals and couples.
People consider starting therapy for a variety of challenges. Sometimes you may find yourself repeating patterns from the past, getting stuck in relationships which may not be helpful to you or you might be overwhelmed by feelings of depression or anxiety. I offer an attachment-based psychoanalytic approach to therapy, which has at its core an understanding of the importance of relationships throughout life and how problems and distress in the present may be related to early experiences. Making sense of your feelings and experiences will help you develop your own choices and resources to change your life.

I specialise in trauma and work with children, adults and couples.
I offer a compassionate, safe and confidential environment that supports the exploration and expression of feelings, thoughts, beliefs and circumstances that may be having an adverse effect on emotional well-being and quality of life. Sometimes we just need a space to be still and reflect, a space where we feel accepted, understood and supported in gaining a deeper awareness into why we behave the way we do, or that can offer us an alternative perspective on challenging life situations. My aim is to support you in making sense of your life and working with you in moving to where you would like to be.

I am a Psychotherapist with more than 15 years experience of working with individuals, couples and families who have seen their emotional stability and relationships being impacted by life experiences, like physical or mental health struggles, trauma, loss, challenging transitions between life cycle stages, separation, relationship conflict or adverse childhood experiences. I facilitate work that gives the opportunity to develop a better understanding of what is going on for you, a clearer idea of how you would like things to be, exploring and experimenting with ways to achieve this.

I see the therapeutic space as an opportunity to take a new look at current difficulties, taking into account old and often unconscious issues in order to promote the awareness that leads to more harmonious functioning and more satisfactory relationships. I prioritise establishing a climate of trust in the therapeutic relationship where warmth and empathy are paramount. My experience also reaches to supporting young adults who seek to better understand their concerns and symptoms, which can be in the range of depression, relationship snd family difficulties.

I am also now offering parent coaching to build and strengthen the parent/carer relationship.
I am a child-centred play therapist working with children, primarily from 4-12 years of age. I provide a safe, empathetic and accepting space for your child to explore what is troubling them. My approach is play based and primarily non-directive. However, for some children a slightly more directive approach can be helpful. Each child is unique, therefore the sessions will be tailored to your child and meeting their individual needs. A play based approach can be useful for children who may find it difficult to express how they feel into words.

I believe that almost everyone can benefit from counselling. If you feel unhappy in your life, down and upset, or/and stressed, and you are ready to make a change in your life, counselling is for you; If you want to learn more about yourself, your behaviour, your patterns, and how to improve your life and your relationship with family, friends and work; If you want someone to listen and give you a safe, emphatic and non-judgemental space to reflect, to communicate your feelings and thoughts, while you are supported and guided during the process - counselling is for you!

My main specialty is working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, burnout, life/work balance and life changing events.
Looking to learn more about yourself? Would you like to address a particular mood or thoughts that are consuming your mind? Our unconscious mind can influence us more than we think... "what you resist persists" If you are tired of feeling stuck, going around in circles trying to figure out how to make the “right” choices for yourself, feel more balanced and mindful, then is time to take actions. In our sessions we would work together exploring meaning beyond current and past situations to support awareness and inner freedom so you can achieve your goals and choose to become who you want to be .

I offer couples & relationship counselling as well as support to families.
These are some of the things people may be thinking or saying when they decide to seek professional support: "I experience awful feelings of panic." "I feel anxious a lot of the time. "I feel tearful a lot." "I can feel angry all day and it feels bad." "Life appears very confusing and complicated" I offer professional counselling, support and strategies to help you navigate your way through whatever your issues may be, already in the first session. I hold a professional psychotherapy diploma from the Human Givens Institute. This approach helped a family member with anxiety very much which is why I chose to train in it also.

For counseling to be effective there needs to be an honest and trusting relationship, where uncomfortable or difficult matters can be explored in a safe environment.
At times we can feel overwhelmed by what is happening in our lives, and within our relationships, a situation has become overtime intolerable, or we may want to make some changes. Choosing to start counselling is a recognition that someone may be able to help, instead of struggling to deal with the issues alone. There may have been a recent crisis, however sometimes it can be difficult to identify the reasons why we feel unhappy, and at these times talking to a counsellor in confidence can be beneficial and enlightening.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
