I work with people from all backgrounds who need help with one or a variety of issues including painful childhood memories, low self-esteem, relationship (family or partner) issues, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, loneliness, and low self-confidence.
If you’re searching this website for a counsellor or psychotherapist then there’s probably something that’s troubling you. Finding the right person to trust with your vulnerabilities is important and often scary. I am highly motivated by the joy of seeing my clients getting the breakthroughs they are looking for and freedom from what holds them back or hurts them. I focus on empowering my clients and ensuring they remain in control of the pace and outcomes they want to achieve. My clients often tell me they appreciate my warm, empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgemental style.

I am a highly qualified Relationship & Sex Therapist with 15 years experience. I am also trained in 2 evidence-based treatment models, each grounded in decades of research, Emotionally Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method. These provide us with deeper understandings and knowledge of what is required to help couples build more secure, resilient and loving bonds. Often, couples in distress don't know how to respond to each other in the face of emotional turmoil as a result of not getting the love they need and want from each other. Unlocking these co-created patterns of dis-connection with a relationship therapist is often required.

As a qualified Relationship Counsellor, I have worked with individuals and couples in private practice and charities, as well as with families for over 20 years within the NHS.
Accepting that we're finding things difficult is often the hardest part. Throughout every stage of life we can experience times when things don’t feel right and we struggle with our relationships, or to make sense of our thoughts, feelings and world around us. This can lead to us feeling anxious, overwhelmed and struggling to communicate.

We provide Counselling and Psychotherapy for Individuals dealing with personal or sexual issues and Couples dealing with Relationship issues or Sexual difficulties. Psychosexual therapy or Sex Therapy is a talking-based treatment and doesn't involve touch during consultation. Psychosexual problems can be emotional and/or psychological and can be caused by, or lead to, physical problems. Our approach is based on the Biopsychosocial Healthcare Model so, we may at times refer a client to a GP if necessary e.g., for an endocrine test to check various hormone levels.

Anxiety presents comes in many guises. Folk usually say they want to feel better and that the unrest has reached such a pitch that they felt they had to see somebody. 'I should have come years ago', 'I bottle things up', 'I've been having panic attacks', 'My relationship is suffering', 'I feel so angry', 'my confidence is worse than ever'. 'online sex/gambling/eating/drinking/buying is taking me over', 'I can't be among folk', 'I've gone off sex', 'I don't have the concentration to read or watch a film', etc, etc.

The psychotherapeutic relationship is therefore a re-search.
Psychoanalysis or psychoanalytic psychotherapy is an open-ended conversation with no agenda and no time limit (i.e. number of sessions). The practice (Greek: Praxis) of psychoanalysis attends to the person who comes for analysis, to listen and witness their concerns, and to facilitate, if possible some kind of loosening of the strictures than bind and contort experience. I work with people with different needs under the rubric of mental distress.

While I'm especially interested in working with existential issues and those affected by parental narcissism, I'm experienced in working with a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, complex trauma, sexual abuse, attachment, substance abuse, and family and relationship problems.
Hi there, my name is Ana and I'm a psychodynamic therapist and supervisor with a special interest and experience in working with those affected by existential issues and a Masters thesis in working with adult children of parents with narcissistic traits. In my client work, I draw on my background in psychology, philosophy and systemic therapy, as well as psychodynamic therapy and attachment theory which looks at the unconscious relational processes between us and finds links between what you're experiencing in the present and your early childhood and family experiences. My supervision approach is both psychodynamic and integrative.

Specialist areas: Trauma, bereavement, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, domestic abuse, childhood issues, health, life transitions, loss and change.
Is everything okay?....... This can be a difficult question to answer. Our default response is often "yes", but deep down, for a lot of us, that's simply not true. Often we struggle to verbalise it, can be exceptionally good at denying it even exists or spend copious amounts of emotional energy keeping it at bay. Perhaps you know why you don't feel okay and perhaps you don't. Either way, I can help. I offer a safe, confidential space to allow you to explore any issues you may be experiencing. "Above all things, to thine own self be true"- William Shakespeare.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
