Sometimes life can become too overwhelming because of difficult events or relationships, both old or current. You may be struggling with anxious feelings or have become stuck in unhelpful behaviours as you try to manage your world. This can become a lonely and disempowering place. People come to therapy because they recognise these thoughts or strategies are limiting their lives. My work is humanistic in approach with a person-centred focus; this means that I will listen and value what you share and not be judgemental or directive. I build empathic therapeutic relationships that enable you to feel safe to share your emotions.
I have a background in healthcare, particularly palliative, neurodiversity and disability, and I know the importance of an holistic approach when meeting an individual’s needs. This theme is central to my counselling work. I aim to work alongside you and offer a peaceful and confidential space to share your difficulty and the impact it is having on you.
I have worked for Phoenix Health and Wellbeing in Leeds, as a Specialist Counsellor for MS-UK and a Volunteer Counsellor at SARSVL, a women’s rape and sexual violence support charity based in Leeds. I am also an accredited counsellor with the RNIB. My work aims to be inclusive of people with disabilities. Please talk to me to see how I can best help you.
