For the past 18 years I have specialised in trauma and addiction, working with people within community-based organisations, schools, criminal justice systems, the NHS and Private Practice. I have a particular interest in how people make sense of their experiences. A particular lens through which this is viewed is narrative. This aims to be a respectful and non-blaming practice in which there is a collaboration to find the most satisfying story to live a preferred life. A pace for this work will be negotiated and agreed at the start and reviewed in each session or, when required.

Narrative therapy can address a range of issues and involves disentangling people from problems and looking at your story from different angles. We might break it down into smaller pieces so that you can reauthor it without the problematic aspect playing a leading role in your life. Stories may be about exploration, reducing the problem or about change.
There will be an opportunity to have a telephone conversation of 15 minutes for you to find out more information about counselling, how I work and, most importantly whether you feel the therapy could be useful for you. Initial meetings address what you want to look at, how we might work together and initial number of sessions offered, usually 6.
