As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained in a range of therapeutic models. My approach is integrative and person-centered; I might use elements from a range of models according to the difficulties that an individual is experiencing at any given time. This may include CBT, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and green therapy ideas. I specialise in working with adults and see clients aged 18y+.
A formulation is a way of understanding how everything fits together, and often helps to identify how or why difficulties have come about. We develop this understanding together in our first sessions, and then I draw on my experience, knowledge of a range of models and the evidence base to plan an intervention.
Therapy can be hard work; it has often been a difficult decision to seek help and people are often concerned about sharing their experiences. I work alongside the people that I see, and build a solid working relationship. I respect you as the expert of your experiences, while I bring the psychological expertise to help instigate change.
