Reasons for seeking counselling may vary and these could include a wide range of psychological or emotional distress as well as the need to explore your life more deeply or reflect on particular life decisions or dilemmas. The way we approach challenges in life and the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that arise from them can sometimes be the source of further suffering which can be experienced as shame, self-criticism, isolation, self-loathing, self-blame and deep emotional suffering.
My approach to therapy has been influenced by existential philosophy as well as psychological models, such as psychodynamic theories, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy. I use a relational centred approach where I see the therapy as a co-created and evolving process which takes place in a confidential and non-judgemental way.
Psychotherapy enables the ability to identify and name our experiences in a safe and compassionate space, whether these are deep-rooted emotions or limiting beliefs about ourselves and the world. Through this awareness, a new perspective can emerge, which can lead to positive changes and a better relationship with ourselves and others.
