Hi, my name is Roy Yelverton, welcome to Calm Space, where I aim to provide a safe, secure, and Calm environment for my clients. Quite often people come for counselling and say they don't know where to start, and there is no wrong or right, absolutely no expectations from me as a counsellor, my role as a person-centred therapist is to work with the person, not the issue. I will encourage clients to be open and honest from the start, and I will let the session go wherever it needs to go. It is client-lead, and my role is to provide a safe space to support my clients in whatever issues they need to explore.
Adverse childhood experiences, neglect, abuse of any kind, addictive behaviours, anxiety, depression, or sexual violence are some of the areas that I cover. Trauma from these experiences can cause long-lasting issues and working in a therapeutic relationship can be very healing.
Fear of opening up and sharing the pain of early experiences may prevent people from seeking help. There may be feelings of shame around those early experiences and my role includes encouraging clients to trust me in our relationship, and this trust and courage pays dividends in the long run,
