Hello, my name is Carla. I am a psychotherapeutic Counsellor and member of the BACP. I work in an open, warm and non-judgmental way. I believe my job is not to tell you what to do, but to create a safe space for you to feel heard. Drawing on different therapeutic approaches, I aim to support you in gaining deeper awareness of behaviour patterns and difficult feelings. Therapy is an opportunity to reconnect with your authentic self and to develop a better relationship with yourself and others. My hourly rate is £45. I offer discounted sessions of £35 to teachers, students, military families, NHS staff and new parents (kids under 3).

When life gets hard, it's easy to feel like you're all alone and not good enough. But you're not alone. There's nothing 'wrong' with you. Everyone struggles sometimes. I’ve met many people who felt hopeless about life, who turned their lives around, in ways that felt almost miraculous. I’ve found that people have more strength and wisdom than they realise. Together, in a warm, non-judgmental, and very safe, confidential environment, we can help you to re-discover that same wisdom and strength in yourself. I can help you understand, process, and work through the complex feelings that make life difficult.

I have over fifteen years of experience working as a counsellor and now as a counselling psychologist (in training). I have extensive experience of working in the NHS, MIND, Off the Record and students. I offer a calm safe space where together we can find clarity on what has brought you to seek counselling. At times it can be very confusing and frustrating when we can't make sense of our emotions and often feel stuck or overwhelmed. I work collaboratively, cultivating a mindful and inquisitive approach to understand how clients construe their inner reality and life experiences, which paves the way for more fulfilment in daily life.

I believe therapy can be a transformative experience. Whether you have recently been through a difficult or traumatic experience, are feeling lost, low, are struggling with negative self-image, or you just feel it may be helpful to have a space to untangle your thoughts and develop a deeper understanding of yourself, I can hold a safe and non-judgemental space for you. My work is integrative (meaning I draw from different therapy theories), and is client-centred, at your pace, gentle and compassionate.

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, unresolved trauma, a major life change or simply feeling 'stuck', I can help you feel better, think more clearly and move forward quickly and positively. I believe we're all able to create meaningful change in our lives, and I'll help you access your own strengths to make the changes you want. Sessions with me involve friendly discussion of your issues, cognitive therapy and thoughtful, practical strategies for moving forward. We won't spend lengthy sessions dwelling too long on the past: instead, I offer solution-focussed help based in the here and now.

I am a warm, honest and open counsellor with a flexible, creative, gentle yet challenging style. The relationship we develop will support you to explore and understand difficult issues; increase self awareness; and improve connection. Many clients come to me saying they feel "confused" "alone" "desperate" "lost". I will work with you to help you uncover and explore your truth, as so often we have lost sight of or do not even know what it is.

It’s when you sense, or realise, that things can’t remain the same and yet you feel frozen, unable to act, and you don’t know what to do. A personal crisis might leave you feeling powerless and anxious. Then you find that the ways in which you generally deal with problems aren’t working: the people you’d usually turn to for support aren’t enough, they might be too involved with the issues you’re facing. You might also feel unwell. It’s not uncommon to feel anxious, depressed or emotionally fragile. This is when counselling can help. I offer Face to Face, Walk and Talk, Online and Telephone Counselling.

Are you currently at a significant turning point in your relationship and need support figuring out a satisfactory outcome for both ? Is a cancer diagnosis impacting on you, your partner and the dynamics of your relationship?

I aim to offer an approach that is suitable to what you are going through, where you feel met and understood. At some point in life we can be left feeling confused, lonely, disconnected from ourselves and unfulfilled in our lives. Sometimes it's hard to understand what's going on, things start to feel out of control or tough to manage alone. Naturally, we want to move forward to a place we can be ourselves in the world. Whether it's relationship difficulties, abuse, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, addiction, grief, loss or stress perhaps even a tough decision, therapy can be a helpful place to gain support.
