Having worked as a therapist for nearly 10 years, I have encountered a wide variety of mental health issues and I enjoy working with clients to move forward from their stuck point. I have also experienced significant mental health issues myself in the past so I can appreciate what it is like to reach for help. I feel that understanding and contentment are the underlying and achievable goals for client. I can offer individual, couple, family and group sessions. I am a qualified Supervisor and run individual and group sessions. I also present talks and CPD events on mental health and neurodiversity.

I am an experienced and BACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor. I can work short or long term. I always work towards the clients goals. I am happy to look at past issues, problems just arising or future concerns. I work one to one in person when possible or by phone if the client prefers. I am very empathic. Many people are struggling with everyday life and have unresolved issues which are affecting them or their relationships. I find that many of my clients are able to resolve these issues and feel much happier as they move forward. You may phone or WhatsApp me.

Counselling changed my life 11 years ago and I believe it can change yours too. Life can feel really hard at times and sometimes we might feel guilty or unreasonable for feeling this way because of a belief that there are always other people in a worse postition. All people's problems and difficulties are extremely unique and personal to them and I am passionate about helping people to understand why they think, feel and behave the way they do. Armed with this knowledge, people are able to start to take back control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and in turn, lead a happier, more content life.

Life can be difficult sometimes and we can feel lonely, sad, confused, overwhelmed or just a bit lost and we don't know where to go next. We can experience anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties or life just feeling too difficult. Having time to explore your feelings and experiences free of judgment may be the help you need to find a better way forward. This can lead to self awareness and acceptance, helping us get the most out of life. Whether there is a specific problem or something from your past causing you difficulty, counselling can be a positive step forward to understanding and managing your life.

I use various psychotherapeutic approaches to work alongside you in relation to: depression, anxiety, trauma & related issues, unwanted thoughts, loss, low self esteem, self identity, relationship difficulties. There is a basic need in all of us to be understood and accepted unconditionally. There are times in everyone's life where we all struggle in different ways. It can feel difficult to explore what is going on for us and why. At the heart of my role as your counsellor, my priority is to help you feel free and unjudged within the counselling space. Together we can explore whatever may be holding you back.

As an individual or within a relationship, sometimes life can feel really difficult. Whether it's a temporary phase, distress in overcoming a difficult experience or unresolved problems from the past, we have all, at some point in our lives and relationships, experienced difficulty in understanding and making sense of our lives. This can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, angry or frustrated and questioning our ability or our confidence to cope. Counselling has many benefits and over time can help you make sense of feelings and difficulties leading to greater self awareness.

Hello & welcome. I understand that there may be a part of yourself that feels uncomfortable, unmanageable & perhaps a bit scared today. But you are here & these are your first steps to recovery & true self-care. I want to speak from the ‘I’ position instead of saying ‘You’ because there is a good chance I have been where you are. Although everyone is unique in their experience – I have been in some dark emotional places & I also know that I can go there again because life is not an easy straight line of 'ok-ness'. Let us see if we can build on transparency & openness to allow vulnerability & realness together. Let's create change.

Are you looking for someone confidential and non judgemental to talk to? Life can often feel extremely overwhelming. Facing obstacles such as anxiety, depression, lack of self confidence, relationship issues, work issues etc can make us feel helpless. The aim is to understand our obstacles in order to change them.

We all need to talk at times and sometimes we all need to take time out to work things through. This is a brave step, so it's important to know who I am and what I can offer; I am an experienced BABCP accredited CBT Psychotherapist and an EMDR Practitioner, I also interweave 3rd Wave CBT techniques including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Schema therapy into my clinical treatment. My background is mental health nursing and I'll always be a nurse at heart, believing that ultimately we are all human beings that feel pain and require compassion and non-judgemental support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
