Hi, I am Caroline and I have chosen to specialise in working with bereavement because it brings unique, unanticipated challenges and losses that are often misunderstood. There are many incorrect and unhelpful assumptions about what grief should look or feel like and how long it should last. These ideas, alongside the impact of grief on every corner of life and identity, and experiencing confusing and intense emotions, can cause people to feel worried, alone and overwhelmed. My aim is to share my experience, knowledge and understanding of the bereavement process, and what has been of help to others, to support and reassure you.

I'm an experienced integrative therapist and work flexibly and dynamically with adults, couples, families and trainee counsellors. Early relationships and life events may have shaken your ability to fully value yourself or others. You might be bereaved, struggling with a relationship, experiencing depression or anxiety. I'm objective and compassionate, offering support to connect with frightening or buried feelings. Letting go of strategies that no longer work for you, without pressure or expectation, can help you to find your own truth and a sense of who you really are.

With over 15 years experience as a warm, empathic, person-centred counsellor, I provide in-person and online/phone sessions from Seaford. I specialise in supporting clients aged 16+, helping them address challenges such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, and past trauma. I offer a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space to explore your experiences and emotions. Life can be incredibly challenging, and at times, finding balance and peace may feel out of reach. Many clients share that they experience a profound sense of relief when they come to talk—feeling a weight lifted as they unload their burdens.

Welcome, I'm Ian, and I specialise in the 'sober curious' and in helping people explore their drug and alcohol use. I'll work with you to design a new life in a safe, confidential, collaborative way. No judgements, just understanding. Maybe you just want to cut down, gain control. Maybe things are getting a little more drastic. I've years of experience, personally and therapeutically, and I know it's not as simple as just putting down the substance- There's the past; trauma from childhood, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, misplaced coping mechanisms. We'll find solutions. Get in touch to see if I'm the right therapist for you.

There are many reasons why we seek support from counselling - all of which matter to me. First and foremost I am a human being with lived experience and this mutual connection is where we start our journey. My passion is to accomany you to move from a place of suffering, fear, anxiety, uncertainty, disconnection and oftentimes overwhelm to a place of stability and a more present and connected way of living your life. I do this by creating a safe space for you to be heard, where together we will explore what needs tending to.

Thank you very much for visiting my page. I am a Person Centred counsellor based in Seaford and I rent a room in the town centre. I aim to offer a safe place which is free of judgement and a positive atmosphere where we can explore whatever you may wish to bring to each session. In return I’ll also offer honesty and transparency to help build our relationship. I endeavour to work with you as an individual and not just on an individual problem. A personal favourite analogy of mine is “I will attempt to put your shoes on and walk with you but I won’t do up the laces”.

Hi, my name is Liz. Welcome to my profile. I work with clients to help them really understand why they are thinking, feeling and behaving in the way they are. Past and present events and experiences influence how we feel about and therefore treat ourselves which then impacts on all relationships in our lives. By understanding where these thoughts come from and why you may have such huge emotional and physical reactions or equally such suppressed feelings you can change the way you behave towards yourself and others. I would like to help you make the changes you need so that you can lead a healthy, happy and fulfilling life

Welcome. For many of us, there are times when life seems full of challenge and uncertainty. We can feel trapped or disheartened; unsure how to move forward. We may feel anxious, alone, overwhelmed by difficulties, or just have a sense that “something isn’t right”. Sometimes, we might just need some moral support from a good friend. However, this may not always be enough. As your counsellor, I will stay alongside you as you explore your life experience and emotions. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can be open, without having to hide or mask your true feelings. Sometimes we just need support to find our way.

Whatever you're going through in life counselling provides non-judgemental and empathic support. Being seen and heard goes a long way towards starting to feel better. Honest communication tends to provide insight and clarity. This promotes growth, which ultimately results in change and acceptance. Guided reflection can help to make long lasting positive changes to you, your relationships and your future. The space to unburden and review your coping strategies can improve confidence and self-worth. You don't have to suffer alone, or worry about the impact of opening up to those around you. I look forward to working with you soon.

Life can present us with many challenges. The build-up of everyday stresses and disappointments, or the ability to cope with sadness and pain may at times affect your self-esteem and confidence levels. You may feel the need for support in addition to what you already have in place, which is when you may decide to seek the help of a counsellor. I run my private practice on Tuesdays between 10am-7pm offering remote sessions either by Zoom or telephone - please visit my website for more info. Contact me to arrange a free 30 minute introductory session to help you decide whether I am the right person to work with you.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
