I am trained to work with adults of 18 and above. I am fully inclusive in my practice and welcome clients from all communities. I am a member of BACP, MBACP and adhere to their ethical code in my practice. Alongside my private practice, I work pro bono with a charity providing therapy for a self- selected fee. I provide a safe, compassionate, confidential, and non-judgemental space. I can help with single, specific problems or broader, more existential issues like depression. I will meet you with an open mind and, metaphorically speaking, 'hold you' as we work through your problems.

I work with anyone struggling with depression or anxiety-related disorders such as OCD, PTSD, social anxiety etc. My specialist training is also in treating mental health issues caused by sleep problems, chronic health issues or stressors in your life (relationship problems, work pressures, big changes in your life). I also work with people who do not know what is wrong or what is causing it. Clients I work with typically want to understand what they are going through, what is causing how they feel, to have a confidential space to explore what it means and to learn practical ways to manage it better or overcome it.

I offer creative, embodied, introspective and self-reflective psychotherapy. In my sessions, I provide a safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore issues through talking or a more imaginative and symbolic approach using creative mediums. Each journey of exploration is unique. I believe that integrating the body, emotions, mind and reflection can foster a sense of connection, wholeness and healing. I consider that the therapeutic relationship is the core of psychotherapeutic work, where we co-create a sense of meaning and transformation can take place. I will work with you to foster insight, change, and growth.

Do you long to experience some peace, freedom and self trust around food? I believe this should be a birthright for everyone. If you are feeling out of control around food and concerned about the size or shape of your body, I get it because I've been there. I now use my professional and lived experience to help others find their way out of the prison of binge eating. I'm sure you have tried many times to gain control of your eating and maybe you're at a point where you're thinking there must be more going on than simply not being able to stick to a diet. Is therapy the answer?

Whether you are struggling with a life event or you carry unhelpful patterns from the past, I would like to help you manage the present more to your satisfaction. I will listen and try to understand what life is like for you. If you feel that you are not good enough and that your low self-esteem is impacting on your choices and the view of yourself, life can be hard. Experiencing problems in important relationships in your life, or struggling to connect with people, can make you feel isolated. Talking to somebody could be the first helpful step.

About me: I combine a rigorous training at the University of Oxford with a gentle and compassionate approach to each individual client. We are all unique. So are the things we find painful or meaningful. The way forward will also be unique. I aim to provide a non-judgemental space in which we can identify how you might live a more rounded life. This is a gradual and meaningful journey towards some sense of healing, rather than a short-term alleviation of symptoms.

Currently working via ZOOM, I am a psychotherapist and counsellor with consulting rooms in Highgate in north London and Harley Street in central London. My approach is integrative. This means that I work with a wide range of psychotherapeutic theories. Each provides its own valuable perspective and is enhanced when carefully integrated with another. The term 'integrative' also refers to the process of integrating the personality, taking disowned aspects of the self and bringing them into awareness, therefore reducing the need for self-defeating defence mechanisms and behaviour.

Taking the first step to a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage and the idea of therapy may seem daunting. Life can present challenges and sometimes we just need that space away from it all where we can talk things over and be heard - I am offering you that. I believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect which means not approaching you as an expert but as one that will listen to the things that are troubling you. In so doing I will offer you that safe space to explore and find a way through what you are facing. I will listen, I will be genuine, I will not judge.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
