Zachary White, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Communication at Queens University of Charlotte. He received his Ph.D. in communication from Purdue University. Along with Donna Thomson, he is the co-author of the book, "The Unexpected Journey of Caring: The Transformation from Loved One to Caregiver." His published academic research has explored the spectrum of the care experience, including neonatal parent-based care, chronic caregiver experiences, and end-of-life caregiving.

He teachers undergraduate and graduate courses addressing topics such as provider-patient communication, caregiver communication, the patient experience, health and illness narratives, digital health literacy, social support and disclosure, and sense making amidst life transitions. As the founder of the caregiver blog and resource “The Unprepared Caregiver”, his original writing voice mixes communication expertise and cultural analysis featuring a care-centered point of view.
