Elena Bezzubova earned her M.D. summa cum laude from Khabarovsk State Medical Institute and a Ph.D. with a dissertation on depersonalization from Moscow Pirogov Medical University in Russia. She then completed a fellowship in medical education at the University of California, Irvine and training in psychoanalysis at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. Her long-term clinical, teaching, and research experience encompasses a broad range of mental health issues. Depersonalization and the existential roots of the person have been at the center of her practice and scholarship throughout her career. She has taught psychiatry and psychoanalysis, authored book chapters and articles, and presented at conferences around the world. She served as a member of the Medical Ethics Committee at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center for nearly 20 years. Bezzubova maintains a private practice as a research psychoanalyst in Newport Beach, California, and teaches at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles and at the University of California, Irvine.
