Carlota Batres Ph.D.

About

Carlota Batres, Ph.D., is the author of numerous scholarly articles on perceptions and preferences. Much of her research focuses on understanding the information that faces convey and examining the effects of that information on social outcomes. She is known for her cross-cultural work as well as her publications on attraction and cosmetics.

Dr. Batres received her master's and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of St Andrews, where she examined individual differences in facial preferences. She later went on to complete a postdoc funded by CHANEL, where she investigated how makeup influences facial perceptions. Originally from El Salvador, she now lives in Pennsylvania where she is a psychology professor at Franklin and Marshall College and the director of the Preferences Lab.
