My post-graduate training comprises over 500 hours at clinical conferences, courses, and workshops in Canada, the United States, Australia, Austria, and Italy.
Everyone's story is unique and no therapy session follows a predictable path. Yet the following steps provide a general outline of how your therapy sessions with me may progress. We investigate your particular problem thoroughly, its destructive dramas and dark messages, until we see exactly how it turns up in your day. Just as important, we clarify your core values, hopes, and skills from which emerges a clear direction for your life.

Couples are sometimes nervous to start therapy but find that they look forward to coming to sessions with me because it is a time in the week when they feel closer to their partner and look forward to talking about issues in a safe environment.
Are you in a relationship where you find yourself fighting all the time or not able to communicate? I help individuals and couples who are struggling with marital and relationship issues, specifically with communication trouble. I also specialize with pre marital/commitment education. My clients come to see me because they want to talk. They don't want to have issues. But talking with me is a way of managing their issues at the very least. And at the best, it is about solving issues.I would like to support you as we work together to sort it out.

My session length is dependent on the client's issues and client choice.
Most of my clients haven't found relief. They may have been unsuccessful in previous therapy ventures like CBT. They are not interested in using medication to resolve their PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, or self-esteem issues. They may have considered suicide or used other control behaviors to help them self-regulate their emotions. They typically have experienced childhood trauma through verbal, sexual, neglect and/or physical abuse that has invaded their adult lives. Or, they may have had entirely normal childhoods, not feeling their experience was different from others, yet still have the above side effects.

I am eager to get started helping you restore your connection with your partner! I am registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I have 10 years' experience as a mental health counsellor, 9 years specializing in couple work. I am passionate about helping couples heal old wounds and years of distance and disconnection. I help partners learn how to repair and reconnect, authentically and compassionately. Couples often get stuck in painful, negative patterns and the approach I use, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), provides a map to help them move out of the same old argument into a new way of relating, with more depth, vulnerability and connection. I also love working with individuals, to help them understand themselves better and make healthier choices.
