There’s a lot that holds us back from trying therapy. We may think we need a serious problem to see a therapist. But therapy is for everyone. Because, as humans, we experience sadness, grief, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. The only qualification to go to therapy is to be human. You may ask, why not talk to a friend? Because friends aren’t properly trained to listen. And the healing begins the moment you feel properly heard. As you attend therapy, patterns emerge, insights appear, wounds open up, and traumas are acknowledged. Going to therapy is an investment in your human potential and betterment. It is a sign of sanity.
I specialize in stress/burn-out, family-of-origin wounds, self-esteem issues, trauma and PTSD. I use an Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach to understand our behaviours and reactivity. I apply mindfulness to regulate strong emotions like anxiety. I use somatic experiencing (SE) to manage trauma symptoms and emotional dysregulation.
