As a trauma-informed therapist, I use an integrative approach drawing from a range of evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), attachment-based models such as Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), as well as somatic (body) centered approaches including Mindfulness.
What if there was another way to manage difficult emotions and impulses, to decrease self-criticism and spiralling anxiety, to feel better about yourself in your relationships and to cope through life's challenges and changes. Hi, my name is Dana and it’s been a privilege supporting individuals and families toward meaningful change over the past 13 yrs. I'm known for my genuine and down-to-earth approach, professional integrity and my specialization with teens, younger adults and parents.

My approach is informed by somatic therapy, internal family systems, family constellations, and hypnotherapy.
Talking things through and accountability have not been enough to sustain satisfaction in your life? Let’s try something different! In our sessions everything deserves a place; emotions, thoughts, images, dreams, desires, impulses, stories, and sensations, they all belong. And all need to be acknowledged in order to generate real movements and shifts in our lives. Movements can happen externally as a physical release, internally as a new image of ourselves, or at a soul level shifting our dynamics with others, and the way we live.

I use both traditional talk therapy as well as neuroscience-informed techniques like mindfulness, EFT Tapping, and somatic approaches.
Many clients come to me to work through anxiety, stress, emotional triggers, and the effects of trauma and grief. I also provide general psychotherapy and I'm happy to help you work through whatever challenges bring you here today. I use a range of different therapeutic models, and work collaboratively with each client to find a blend of techniques that suit who they are and what their needs are right now. My goal is to help my clients get some immediate relief from what's troubling them, and to build longer-term skills and strategies for greater resilience, authenticity, and connection in their lives.

I take a client-centred approach to therapy, incorporating aspects of mindfulness practice, trauma-informed practice, talk therapy, somatic work and more.
Tackling our day-to-day can be challenging. It can be even more difficult when you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or being overwhelmed and burnt out. Through the process of therapy, we will work together in building confidence and feeling empowered in navigating your own life. I believe in creating a safe, comfortable and nonjudgmental space where you are free to be yourself and share what you are struggling with.

I am a Relational Somatic therapist with a strong belief in our innate desire and capacity to strive for health and authenticity.
Are you are in crisis, struggling with an on-going issue or seeking to be free of restrictive emotional patterns/responses? If so, I can help you move from a place of limitation, to one of possibility and choice. Psychotherapy can provide wonderful benefit with long-term results. Learning to take care of ourselves is something we often take for granted and is not always easily achieved given our histories or daily stressors. I will support you in stabilizing yourself and situation, so that you can face your challenges and evolve in directions that feel authentic, liberating and ultimately sustainable.

Our sessions together will weave gentle curiosity and open-ended exploration of who you are as an embodied human in relation to your environment, understanding that what is in the present usually has roots anchored deep in our somatic (body) awareness.
Currently accepting new clients. I am a queer, non-binary, mixed-race, neurodivergent therapist who specializes in working with clients around issues relating to sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity, body dysphoria, religious trauma, relationships (monogamous/polyamorous), kink, anxiety, depression, existential issues & life transitions. If you've been reluctant to approach a therapist for support fearing that you will be judged or shamed, I can empathize - and I can probably help.

I use a relational, psychodynamic approach informed by trauma, attachment, somatic and mindfulness theory.
We are living in difficult times. Many people today are feeling alienated from themselves and others, feeling anxious or depressed. Some are feeling little or nothing; others are overwhelmed, having difficulties with relationships, or they're confused about their direction in life. Wherever you are, I will meet you there with kind attention and encouragement, and together we will unravel your tensions and discover how to help you find your inner strength and resourcefulness. I have been practising as a Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist for over 20 years and have helped many people find greater health and fulfillment in life.

My approach integrates adult-attachment styles, CBT, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and parts work.
Life is an ever-shifting sea, where the currents of growth and transformation carry us on a journey of self-discovery. At times, we may find ourselves adrift, uncertain of our shores and longing for a sense of direction. In these moments, therapy can be an anchor, grounding us and helping us navigate the vast ocean of possibilities. Just as a skilled mariner binds a knot that secures a sail, I believe that each person possesses the innate ability to thread together their own unique narrative of healing and transformation. Through the therapeutic process, we can mend the frayed edges of our being, with compassion and resilience.

Incorporating the mind and body, I draw from relational, psychodynamic, somatic, attachment based and trauma focused frameworks.
Life can feel challenging at times, leaving you feeling overwhelmed or stuck. You may be experiencing feelings of sadness, worry, anger, shame, fear, grief or despair. Struggling with difficult emotions can take away from living in the present moment. Instead you may find yourself dealing with anxiety, self-criticism, over-thinking, reliving painful memories and stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Together we will slow things down so we can explore your experiences and the parts of you that may be hard to understand.

I incorporate aspects of Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Breathwork, Somatic and Mindfulness-based therapies.
I work with adults who are seeking to experience more authenticity within relationships and work towards living more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Perhaps there are emotional wounds from the past that are keeping you stuck, or the reality of living in the modern world is overwhelming, leaving little room for connecting with yourself. My practice is rooted in the belief that within every person exists a wellspring — a source of wisdom, creativity, and innate capacity for healing. I strive to embody an empathic, grounded presence that creates a healing space for my clients to pause and reconnect to their own inner wisdom.

Not accepting new clients
I use an integrative approach with clients, with a basis in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy or 'parts work', a trauma-informed, mindfulness based modality, and I draw from somatic and behavioural interventions to invite change and acceptance in your life.
There are times in our lives that we cannot get a handle on the challenges in our life. Sometimes our genetics play a role, i.e. intergenerational traumas, and other times, life, and all its stressors gets overwhelming. For some, systemic barriers exist that impede a capacity for wellness. During these times, it is helpful to work with a trained therapist to support you as you find your way back to your healing, happiness and inner peace. Therapy is a process of growth, unlearning, and self-discovery. In my therapy sessions, I promote behavioral transformation and inner peace by encouraging curiosity, compassion and acceptance.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
