I approach therapy with an open mind that is free of judgement and full of genuine care. I use a variety of theoretical frameworks and techniques that benefit individual clients; I believe in being adaptable because everyone is unique in their perspectives, experiences, and needs. My main theoretical framework is grounded in attachment theory, while sessions are client-centred; the methods and motivation to develop positive change comes from within oneself. I naturally gravitate towards developing an empathetic understanding of my clients, which promotes strong therapeutic relationships and positive client expectations.

The real cause of unhappiness is self-distrust, we do not trust ourselves well enough to win our battles. We are most times more scared of the known coming to an end than the beginning of the unknown. No wound is too deep for a ferocious devotion to heal. A huge number of hu man challenges ranges from financial, emotional and lack of spiritual energy to face our challenges.

Life can be hard. When our life seems to drag from one situation, one crisis to the next, it often becomes overwhelming. Most times we can deal with that, but there seem to be some things that just need to be spoken. I am willing to listen, to hear and to validate your story. Together we can help you find coping tools, gain insights and make positive lasting changes in your life. Whether you are looking to improve your mood or relationships, are struggling, or are just looking for a safe and supportive place to talk, I can help.

I describe myself as a transformational therapist not because it is trendy but because my approach is centred on transformation. Each of us has an internal drive towards healing; we seek to be better than "fine." We all experienced trauma in one form or another, no parent who has ever lived could meet every need we had as children. We all have parts of ourselves that we have cut off, disowned, or devalued. In therapy, we work together to construct a new experience, allowing you to reclaim who you truly are.

My desire is for every client to experience healing through therapy that remains grounded in real life (which is often very messy). I offer you a judgement-free space to be yourself and let go of whatever stress or pain you’re carrying. You set the goals and the pace, and together we move towards what’s meaningful amidst a history of trauma and hardship.

As a cisgender gay man myself, I have personal experience with this self-acceptance journey and I use that knowledge to help clients reframe thoughts, enact self-compassion and remember that thoughts are just thoughts, not facts.
I work with all sorts of people, but 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the challenges of being queer in a majority heterosexual world are often the centre of conversation. I focus on helping people to understand and express their identity in the context of the intersection between 2SLGBTQ+ issues and the mental health struggles that accompany this journey, such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Many people in and out of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are struggling with anxious or intrusive thoughts, dealing with family rejection or loss, and experiencing depression. It's time to take control of our identities.

If you have been struggling in some (or many) aspects of a relationship, therapy can support decision making, and build on your existing capacity to address your concerns.
Many of my clients seek consultation with specific intentions or goals for therapy from the outset, while others reach out to clarify their position regarding life events. It is common for people to have multiple concerns that could benefit from therapy, but feel unsure of where to start. I also meet with people who are doubtful about the usefulness of therapy, yet are in search of a protected setting to work through one of life’s struggles.

For well over a decade, I have had the privilege of serving people from all walks of life. One thing that just about everyone seems to agree on is that being hu man is not easy! Life is hard and quite complicated – and we all deal with serious problems and challenging circumstances from time to time. As much as suffering is a part of our hu man experience, we are also naturally endowed with the powerful ability to heal, overcome and THRIVE! Whether it be an experience that requires healing, a situation you want to better understand, a problem at requires a solution, or an important decision that you need to make, perhaps I can help.

I work with clients who are seeking a deeper sense of peace and purpose, struggling with anxiety, grief, or relationship challenges. They are looking for guidance that respects their Catholic faith, blending professional counselling with spiritual support. Their goal is to heal emotionally, grow spiritually, and lead a life filled with hope and fulfillment. They desire a counsellor who can walk alongside them, offering compassion, understanding, and faith-based wisdom to help them navigate their journey.

Who doesn't love listening to a good story? Many of the stories out there are fraught with heartache, hardship and struggle; yet when you read between the lines, they all reveal the indomitable spirit of the person sharing it.
I am a Registered Professional Counsellor candidate (RPC-c) with a Master's Degree in Education, along with a B.A., B.Ed. and a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling. Additionally, I hold certifications in ASIST, De-escalating Potentially Violent Situations and Critical Incident Group De-briefing. I will endeavour to create a safe, secure, empathetic and non-judgmental environment where individuals, couples and families can be open to reveal their vulnerabilities and share their experiences. I look forward to using the modalities of CBT, DBT, EFT, SFBT, along with spiritual and mindfulness modalities.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
