My focus is working with individuals who may be experiencing various stresses like anxiety, low mood; or perhaps difficulties managing emotions, and feeling reactive in interpersonal circumstances. With a background working with moderate to severe concerns of children & youth, I can support parents in identifying the concerns of their child, and support them in learning how to connect and attune to their children's needs. I also work with couples who are looking to strengthen their relationship and prepare for transitions like parenthood. Lastly, I enjoy integrating my Christian faith background into the practice as clients see fit.

My clients want to address old wounds, understand why they do what they do and break the cycle. They may be struggling with porn addiction, relational trauma or communication issues. The healing journey is diverse, organic, intuitive, and self-guided, and does not happen in isolation. Creating safety to heal takes support and connection. We are not problems to be fixed; we are complex beings with infinite potential to thrive in ways that align with our hearts. I view healing through a holistic lens, acknowledging the inherent wholeness and interconnectedness within each of us. My approach to support is rooted in curiosity and non-judgmental self-observation. I prioritize gathering information to increase our conscious awareness, enabling us to make choices and develop radical self-compassion.

I work with women and men who have experienced trauma. You may have had childhood physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Trauma can also result from unmet needs, like not given the affection and nurturing you needed growing up. Or it can be a recent event, an assault or living with domestic violence. I support clients in healing from such experiences, and not just survive but to thrive. I provide a safe, compassionate environment to explore such pain, and healing.

Bodies and minds are fascinating phenomena. They are a record of the past, exist in the present, and imagine the future. You envision the ideal version of yourself and have experimented with many ways to get there. Getting to know your particulars, like your habits, beliefs, conditioning, preferences, emotions, traumas, blockages, muscle tension patterns, spirals, and energy pathways can assist you in solidifying what it is that you do and do not want and aid in your evolution. MME Therapy focuses initially on creating safety in the body and then allows for time and space for you to practice embodying who it is you want to be.

You are the expert in your own story and lived experience. I will work with you as a therapist, and you shall guide the ship. We all have skills, tools, and resilience that we can draw upon; sometimes, we just need to be reminded of these. As humans, we are continually learning, growing and healing and this happens from the cradle to the grave. It is never too late to start, begin again or reset and change your path or life story. As a registered Social Worker and therapist in Saskatchewan I have had the privilege of working with diverse individuals, couples and families, guiding them with empathy and respect.

Everyone encounters pain and suffering throughout life, and figuring out how to process and channel that emotion is at the heart of my work. Having worked closely with Indigenous populations in Manitoba, California and the Great Lakes region, I use both culture and background to inform treatment. Every person is unique and your specific needs will determine our approach, all within a safe, secure and non-judgmental environment. To that end, I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is based on acceptance and empathy and is essential to client change.

Have you become afraid to hope for the life you want with the people who matter to you most? Now more than ever, couples and families are feeling overwhelmed by trying to create the family life they long for amidst a high pressure, high paced, high expectancy world.

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviours. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
