I work with moms and dads surviving the daily grind of parenting. Brand new parents looking for postpartum supports, or to talk about their bonding concerns. My hope is that you feel less isolated and get some tools to help you handle the day to day. Not ready for tools? That's ok. We can just start by talking through what is going on for you.

It's hard to navigate through life with feelings of anxiety & depression, relationship issues, the inability to set proper boundaries with others, or struggling with low-self worth. Our life experiences can have an effect on us in unexpected ways. The feelings of sadness, anxiousness, overwhelm, distress or being stuck can seem to have a life of their own, causing us to feel helpless, frustrated or confused. I want you to know that you're not alone & there are ways through counselling to help support you in finding your way again. My goal is to help clients get to the root of their struggles and to develop a healthy sense of self.

I am authentic, compassionate and truly enjoy working with people. I am able to assist my clients through a variety of challenges they may be facing. I believe that one’s past has influenced the present but does not define your future. Hi. I’m Christine. I’m a certified counsellor. I’m also an educator, mother, doula and an inner and outer explorer. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the human service sector in roles such as school teacher, community justice facilitator, sexual health educator, and crisis counsellor. I have been fortunate to work with people from across the lifespan from diverse cultural, racial, sexual, religious, and economic backgrounds. It is through this work and through self-inquiry that I have come to understand how these complex intersections of identity shape one’s experience and well-being.

My focus is working with individuals who may be experiencing various stresses like anxiety, low mood; or perhaps difficulties managing emotions, and feeling reactive in interpersonal circumstances. With a background working with moderate to severe concerns of children & youth, I can support parents in identifying the concerns of their child, and support them in learning how to connect and attune to their children's needs. I also work with couples who are looking to strengthen their relationship and prepare for transitions like parenthood. Lastly, I enjoy integrating my Christian faith background into the practice as clients see fit.

We understand how messy, intimidating, and overwhelming therapy can be. We strive to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space in our virtual sessions where you can enjoy the comforts of your own home. We have therapists who are able to address those pesky negative thoughts and who are able to pick a therapeutic approach based on your needs and goals. We want to encourage continued learning outside the counselling space by giving you the tools you need to do so. Client care and advocacy are important; if we don’t have the right tools you need, we won’t stop searching until we do!

I have 23 years working in mental health and my focus is on clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal ideation, grief, and trauma. My clients are wanting to increase their coping skills, increase self esteem, and minimize negative feelings and behaviors such as suicidal ideation or self harm. The goals of therapy are discussed at the first session and the client decides what will be most beneficial for them. As the therapist, my goal is to ensure it is manageable, discuss expectations, and how to move forward in the counselling process. Counselling is a tool to be used when needed.

Having walked the journey myself, I am aware of how difficult the process of change can be. That's why I walk the journey with you. I meet you where you are, and collaboratively we decide what your journey to heal is. I am always excited to work with clients who know that they need to make changes to better their lives, even if they don't fully understand what those changes are. I bring in not only my formal education, but there is also room in my practice for your culture, spirituality, and anything else you need or want to use to help them on this journey of change.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
