My main interest in becoming a counsellor was due to my advocacy work in the misophonia community for the past 10 years. However, I have also overcome many struggles in my life including depression, anxiety, and OCD. At times, I still face these challenges as mental health is a part of our lives just like physical health. I am a compassionate and non-judgmental therapist and I will not judge you if you have used substances/etc to cope.
With my experience as an advocate and psychotherapist, I prefer a type of therapy that is person-centred but also relies on practical solutions. I am an eclectic therapist and I do not rely on one intervention alone. At the basis of my approach is evidence-based practice including sensory regulation and emotion regulation.
As a therapist, and more importantly a human, I believe in a non judgemental approach to managing stress, depression, and other mental health concerns. I am a deeply spiritual person and I am open to all faiths and backgrounds. I hold a BA in Political Science and I am centre-leaning and open to all viewpoints.
