I believe that thinking outside of our literal reality allows us to see the world through a more creative lense and find alternate ways of dealing with our problems. As a result, I use the Expressive Arts as a tool for therapy. Being a first generation immigrant from a mixed heritage, I have a deep understanding of the unique needs of those of diverse backgrounds living in the GTA.
I am a Registered Social Worker and a Feminist Counsellor with a Masters in Expressive Art Therapy. While I work with all ages and genders my focus is on women's and children's wellbeing. I specialize in war related trauma, grief (including loss of homeland, identity or a loved one), mental health and domestic/intimate partner violence.
I feel that most of our problems are structural and so I work from an anti-oppression lens. I emphasize empowerment by encouraging people to become agents of change through personal healing.
