Hi, there! My name is Rachel Kim and I've been a Registered Psychotherapist in Toronto, Ontario since 2017. Prior to this, I was an ESL teacher for 8 years. To pursue a growing interest in understanding human & social systems, I returned to school and completed a degree in Sociology, then a post-graduate diploma in Psychotherapy. Continuing Education since has focused on trauma & attachment neuroscience & treatment. I completed the 3-year program with Somatic Experiencing Int. and am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I am also trained in CBT, DBT, ACT, & EFT-C. I am currently training in Kathy Kain’s Somatic Skills program.
I work with people experiencing various forms of acute & chronic stress. Treatment includes improving cognitive flexibility, emotion regulation skills, affect tolerance, & a more resilient sense of one’s self. My objective is to provide a proficient, secure attachment framework where clients can experience & attain what they need for lasting change.
I also provide communication coaching for those in relationships (romantic, familial, platonic, or professional) seeking to connect more meaningfully or needing support repairing from a rupture(s). In addition, my experience facilitating emotional & shock trauma recovery allows me to safely guide trauma processing through partner work when needed.
