My approach draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychodynamic concepts, family systems theory, as well as attachment-based and trauma-informed frameworks.
Hello, I am glad you're here. I hope that you find what you’re looking for and, if you feel comfortable, perhaps I can lend you a helping hand along the way. I believe that nurturing a deeper understanding of ourselves, others, and the contexts we live in; recognizing the parts that we can and cannot change; and grieving what we should have received but didn't, can allow us more meaning and contentment as we move in life. I hope to accompany you in your process, whether you feel stuck in repeating patterns, are facing difficult situations, and/or are trying to find balance and fulfillment in the various roles you hold.

As an attachment-based therapist, I strongly believe that the quality of our relationships is central to the quality of our lives.
I have over 25 years experience, and extensive training specializing in therapy with people whose relationships have become places of fear, insecurity, and loneliness, where bonds of emotional safety, trust and intimacy have gradually eroded. I offer a short-term, emotionally focused approach (EFT) that's scientifically proven and highly successful in creating greater closeness, a way back to the heart of your relationship. When the connection that you'd hoped to depend on forever seems lost, replaced by distance and confusion, I can help you rekindle intimacy and compassion, a secure bond you can depend on even in hard times.

Life sometimes imposes overwhelming challenges that cause us feel lost and believe there is no choice but to suffer. When we are in the midst of a crisis it is not always easy to see a way out. However, in these circumstances, there is often an opportunity for personal growth. It is at this time that a professional may help you identify inner obstacles preventing you from moving forward and experiencing life to its fullest. I see my role as helping clients with that. My clinical practice focuses on individuals and couples from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

Whatever the reason, finding a therapist who is a good fit for you is the first step. Whether I'm working with individuals, couples, or families, I start with an approach that is trauma-informed and mindful of how our relationships and larger systems impact us.

Over the years as a helping professional I realized that people care less about clever language and elaborate techniques and more about receiving sincere love and compassion, living hope and courage, honest feedback, and new perspectives. What proved to help is having the mutual trust to explore and work on intimate, sometimes painful topics, step-by-step. Together, we invite your strengths and natural wisdom to take the steering wheel of your life, letting go of the grasp of your fears and limiting self-beliefs. Together, we also help you chose and create new habits towards a better ways of being.

Many of us face times in our lives when we need support to get through difficult periods. I see psychotherapy as a safe space to explore yourself, gain self-insight and understanding, and develop tools and resources to face the ups and downs of life. Since 2011, I have had the chance to work with adults with various needs and challenges. I have supported clients to work through relationship difficulties, repetitive patterns that were no longer serving them, anxiety, depression, painful emotions related to present or past events (including traumas), self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and adjustment to chronic illness.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
