Working with families with children of all ages, I specialize in helping strengthen the parent-child relationship. I provide tools to foster resilience and wellbeing, whether it be during periods of transition (e.g., prenatal/postpartum periods, transition to school, separation/divorce), or during regular day-to-day parenting. Throughout the last decade, I have heard stories of pain, sadness, shame, vulnerability, and fear; within those stories there is also resilience, strength, and the ability to overcome that which feels overwhelming. I also have experience working in the public healthcare system; in this role I counsel and guide individuals and families coping with chronic illnesses such as cancer, aging and loss of autonomy, end of life, grief, and loss.

I am a licensed couple and family therapist and psychotherapist. In 2019, I was the recipient of the clinical excellence award for couple and family therapy from McGill University. I received a Master's in psychology in 2009. My area of focus is on helping people understand their relationship patterns and helping them build more meaningful and stable connections with others. I understand that right now you may feel that as though you have too much on your plate and that you are struggling to balance all of life's demands. Many people do not take the time to focus on themselves and invest in their emotional well- being.

In a world that often moves too fast, unprocessed grief, trauma, or overwhelming emotions can leave us feeling stuck and misunderstood. I work with individuals navigating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and complex life transitions—those who have faced losses, both recent and long past, that may still feel all too vivid. My practice is rooted in the understanding that healing isn’t about forgetting or ignoring but about acknowledging and working through these experiences with compassion and support. With a specialty in mental health, PTSD, and trauma, I use a trauma-informed approach that prioritized clients.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
