Hi! I’m Paula and my goal is to help you overcome the challenges you may be experiencing. With my 10+ years of experience in providing counselling in both community and hospital settings, I have had the pleasure of assisting youth and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues and difficulty in managing life transitions. I provide collaborative care with clients whose goal is to improve understanding of self as well as to better develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, decision-making and goal-setting.
My care consists of using foundational skills-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness. As a Black woman my practice is based on a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and anti-Black racist framework with an understanding on psychosocial stressors and intersectionality.
Life can be full of challenges and at times may even feel impossible to overcome. My desire is to offer a therapeutic approach which is supportive, safe, non-judgemental, client-centered and strength-based. My hope is that my help will be an opportunity for personal growth and wellness.
