My philosophy is, you are not broken, you are not something to be fixed! There is something you are wanting to change. That is the focus of what we can work on together. All individuals seeking assistance to navigate their life's journey are welcomed. I listen to what your needs are, help provide you with tools to find a path to break down barriers that are keeping you from living your best life. I believe a counsellor and a client must be able to establish a trusting relationship to make the most of the time spent together. I offer structured/non structured therapies depending on the needs of the clients.

Having worked in both private and psychiatric spaces with adults and teens, my experiences have provided me a strong foundation to work with clients to understand trauma, help find meaning, and create a sense of control in a judgement-free relationship.
Accepting NEW Clients – Do you find feeling stuck, anxious, or wishing you had more confidence or self-esteem? Are you interested in understanding yourself or your choices more and in digging into the roots of why you feel the way you do? Are you interested in looking at your past, taking your power back over experiences, and learning coping skills or tools? Together, we can look at your past, present, and future goals, and provide you with an understanding of what this means to you.

Since 2009 my life work and passion is supporting couples, individuals and families to live skillfully using ACT, CBT, Gottman Method, and Strengths based approaches.
There are many life changes that bring people to meet with a counsellor. Whether you are seeking to manage your anger, depression, anxiety or to cope with a crisis in you and your family/marriage or build more interpersonal communication skills. I provide counselling for Individuals, marriage or couples therapy. There are many tools that can help you cope with stressful events. Together we can build a treatment plan that meets your goals. Taking the first step to call can be overwhelming, it can also be rewarding when you find that there are tools available to help with achieving your goals.

As a therapist, I recognize that challenges and issues have to be engaged within a container of safety, created by compassionate therapeutic relationships. I am a firm believer that healing happens in the presence of such a connection. I aim to bring a necessary balance that is gentle yet challenging. I integrate a biopsychosocial and holistic approach that is trauma-informed and nonjudgmental to respond to a diverse range of situations. These include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, addiction, trauma, and loss.

I work with both individuals and couples.
I believe that we each have an innate wisdom and a core self or spirit that strives for joy, peace and fulfillment. Despite this, we can often become overwhelmed with difficult emotions and feel stuck in ways of being which do not serve us. I embrace the learnings from my Spiritual Psychotherapy & Spiritual Direction training as well as my intuitive energy training. I adopt an eclectic approach which combines traditional talk therapy with spiritual practices . I view healing as a journey of self-discovery and increased awareness which takes one to a deeper place of understanding of self and greater mind-body spirit connectedness

I believe we can get you to a better place in your relationship with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
Accepting new clients for Diagnostic Assessments .... You have been feeling anxious or depressed and this is interfering with your life. You often feel inadequate and are unsure why. You keep encountering the same life challenges and can't seem to change the patterns you notice. You've been overwhelmed by the state of our world (e.g. systemic discrimination and climate change). You're feeling the need for extra support in coping with these challenges. Acknowledging the need for help and taking the steps to find it takes much courage and self-compassion, and I commend you for doing so!

I develop a therapeutic relationship with my clients to offer them the best outcome for their mental health.
Clients with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and broken relationships find my person-centered approach helpful. I listen and guide one's feelings so that the root of the problem surfaces for healing. Planning goals together gives the best outcome. Choosing to take notes and following through with home work always gives an advantage to progress to meeting goals.

In couples or dyadic therapy I teach tools for communicating and enable participants to practice using these tools live in order to de-escalate conflicts and make negotiation possible.
We enter psychotherapy for a wide variety of reasons: The death or loss of a loved one, illness, job loss, divorce, addiction, etc., but all of us seek help because we are trying to find a better way to deal with the reality we are facing. My job as a psychotherapist is to help you talk about your emotions and reactions in a safe environment, figure out where these emotions and reactions are coming from, observe whether your reactions produce the desired outcomes and, discover new ways to react, if that would produce more desirable outcomes

I specialize in supporting folks through relationship struggles, trauma, feelings of emptiness, and creating a more meaningful life that feels like your own, not someone else's.
Are you feeling stuck in an older version of yourself that you know is ready to change? Do you live with the feeling that there's a truer version of "you" that's dying to come out? Are you held back by complicated relationships from your past, that seem to keep you in a holding pattern? Are you a couple stuck in a pattern that keeps you apart? Often we hit a place where we know we are ready for a transition, but we're just not sure what to do next. That's when therapy can be the most powerful. It's my greatest privilege to experience real connection with folks who are journeying towards a more meaningful, fulfilled, authentic life.

It's important to me that the therapeutic relationship be a positive one to allow for trust, growth and a successful therapy process.
I know how scary it can be reaching out for help, but it is also a courageous act. I’m always honored for the opportunity to join my clients through their journey to wellness, and do so at their own pace. I tailor sessions to meet your needs in an inclusive, down-to-earth, judgment free space. I have a range of experience working with youth, adults, couples and families, in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, family concerns, emotion regulation, anger management, teen concerns, stress management, self-esteem and more.

I think that the most important thing in therapy is the quality of the relationship between you and me.
Life is full of beautiful moments as well as obstacles in our path, like anxiety, depression, trauma, existential questions, etc. In those moments, it's important to reach out for help. I offer individual, couple, and family therapy with adults and teens and work from an integrative approach to adapt to your needs and preferences.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
