Hello, reaching out to a therapist can be hard but you should know is this is a safe place to talk about whatever is going on in your life. I believe in providing a space without judgment, a space to download your story and to provide you a place of support and guidance. Part of my practice is to reach out to you in between sessions because I believe in a person centered approach and support should be ongoing. My goal is to support, guide and advocate so that each person finds movement forward. Life can be challenging and sometimes you just need another person to work things through with. I believe I can help you.

Are you feeling stuck? Are you frustrated with life but don’t know why or how to change it? Are you in conflict with your partner or spouse? Does it keep getting worse the more you try to fix it? Are you feeling depressed or down, or overly anxious and stressed? Are you looking for relief and don’t know where to start or what to do next? Whether your challenges are interpersonal, financial, emotional in nature, or related to life transitions, it is normal to sometimes feel that your toolbox could use a few more tools to help you when life gets overwhelming.

I collaborate with clients to help them pursue healing, growth, and change in their lives. I support clients as they work through trauma due to present and past events, and to form meaning and purpose moving forward. I combine EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and play therapy, depending on clients' needs. I offer family mediation for those experiencing separation or divorce, to improve communication and build a path forward. I work with individuals, couples, and children. My hope is that clients achieve personal goals, connectedness, resolution, and the ability to face life head on.

Everyone struggles with certain things at different times in their lives. Mental wellness is a journey, not a destination and we are all at different points along the path. Sometimes, we need help guiding our steps and knowing how best to keep going. My ideal client may be struggling with issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma or personality disorders. Generally, they realize that things in their life are just not working and they want to learn new ways of behaving, thinking and relating to themselves and others to make lasting changes. My practice with clients is collaborative and supportive.

Watered Heart Counselling was formed to help individuals live an optimal life. We believe It is never to late to love your life. During my upbringing, I often felt insecure and overwhelmed by life. At times, I found myself feeling stuck and hopeless, searching for direction that was not always easy to find. It may come as a surprise or relief to know that feeling stuck is a common experience for all of us at some point. As human beings, we can feel anxious, uncertain, overwhelmed, vulnerable, disappointed, low in mood, hurt, traumatized, unloved and insecure

Empathy, compassion, trust, and safety guides the person-centered space that will honour your life experiences and stories. I’ll encourage you to be the guiding force behind your change and healing. We will tap into your inner strength as you are the expert in your own life. You will receive a safe space to explore your concerns related to loss, grief, anxiety, depression that maybe contributing to both complex and intergenerational trauma. Together, we will create goals that are cantered around your aspirations and desired outcome.

I favor a laid back approach to the therapeutic process. My space is colorful, full of plants, and usually has an album humming in the background. I want to create an atmosphere that inspires you to explore your concerns with curiosity, not one that feels like it has expectations. Whether you want to tweak things here and there, or you want to dive as deep as possible, let's do it! Because everyone is unique, I don't have a one-size-fits-all approach. I want to figure out what works best for YOU, in a way that actually feels good. Our struggles can be our greatest teachers, we just have to learn how to listen to them :)

It takes courage to tell your story, and I aim to foster an environment where you can feel safe to do so. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is essential, so you can expect warmth, genuineness, and humour as I work to help you navigate life's challenges. As I believe that people are experts of their own lives, you can expect each session to meet you where you are at, to discover your unique strengths, acquire coping skills, and get in touch with your values in order to live a rich and meaningful life.

Any client is ideal, anyone who needs help is more than welcome to ask for it. I would listen to anyone, and then let them know if I have the expertise to help or not. That’s one main reason that my first session is always FREE. We not only talk about their issues and goals, but also about their strengths and capabilities. Life is not only about what’s going wrong, it’s good to see things that are going well. I work with individuals, couples and also families. Ask your insurance to see if they cover CCC counselling sessions. Call or text today to start your sessions as early as tomorrow. There’s no waitlist.

If you're struggling with mental health, relationship, or addiction challenges, it can feel like your life is out of control and falling apart. It's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed, scared, hopeless, helpless and alone. Or to feel numb. We all experience occasional difficulties in response to life’s challenges, but there are times when we feel particularly stuck or discouraged and we need some extra support. It can be difficult to share your most private experiences with someone new, especially if those experiences have caused you shame, and we have a deep respect for those who are willing to pursue counselling.

Life transitions, daily stressors, trauma, and mental illnesses can negatively influence the way we think, feel, and behave. These factors can cause us to feel "stuck" in old habits and patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that no longer serve us. I recognize that when we are stuck, it is difficult to make that first step towards change and reach out for support. Hence, I acknowledge you for making the first step into finding what works best for you. I understand that you want to take charge of your mental and emotional pain so that you can unlock your utmost potential.

Ever since I can recall, I've been intrigued by the complexity of the human mind. My journey in psychology began as an undergraduate, where I delved into the foundational theories and the more I learned, the more I realized that psychology is not just a subject; it's a lens where we can understand ourselves and others. I believe that every individual's unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution to psychological well-being. My approach is deeply personalized, focusing on your specific needs, goals, and strengths. I work collaboratively with you to develop a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your values and aspirations.

I'm a Registered Psychologist and have worked in a variety of settings providing clinical, community and school based therapeutic services for over 15 years. I work from a client-centered approach and believe that for change to occur there must be a genuine, non-judgemental relationship between the client and the therapist. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them gain greater awareness, insight and to ultimately create balance within their lives. I seek to empower my clients so they can build upon their own internal resources and develop better coping skills to help them deal with whatever life challenges they may face.

Maybe you never feel enough, and what "enough" even looks like may feel uncertain. You might be exhausted from feeling the guilt and shame you don't know how to talk about. Perhaps you think your overwhelming past experiences will never leave you. I work with folks who long to accept and connect with themselves & others but feel stuck and in a loop of self-criticism. As a Korean-Canadian Psychologist with many intersecting identities, I also understand and work with many personal and systemic challenges faced by BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities. I offer care, skills, and insights to support your growth and discovery of new possibilities.

You're worthy of joy, love, confidence, and strength. You may feel alone, broken, stressed, hurt, and stuck right now. Trauma, anxiety, depression, poor communication skills and unhealthy behaviours should not get in the way of work, school, or relationships. I know you feel unsure, awkward, or intimidated about reaching out to a therapist, so you’re very courageous to take this time to explore your options. I encourage you to take the next step to call or email me. I want to support you because you're willing to try; you want to grow and to live your best life.

Our journey in life is filled with obstacles, twists, and turns that can feel overwhelming. Stress and anxiety are more prevalent than ever before, and with all the ways we have to connect with other humans, we've never felt so isolated. Most of us need some help along the way - a navigator for our journey. I admire the courage it takes to seek this help and I’m confident that I can effectively guide you toward improved mental health and wellbeing. Often, mental health concerns are not so much the result of distorted views of the world; the views are merely incomplete.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?
One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialised therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.
Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?
Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.
Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?
The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
