I have formal applied training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families and often apply it in relationship work along with other practices grounded in attachment and trauma knowledge depending on the nature of client concerns and desired changes.
WIth a Master's Degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph, I specialize in strengthening the relationships of diverse couples, parents and their children/teens, and intimates. I work with individual clients from a relationship perspective in recognition of the significant impacts our relationships, past and present, have on our lives and wellbeing. I also take a systemic approach, viewing individual and relationship difficulties in historical context and consideration of the current conditions of people's lives. It is a respectful and comprehensive approach that is rooted in a strong therapeutic relationship.

I have particular interest working with perinatal mental health (pregnancy, postpartum, birth trauma), parenting and military families.
I am a predoctoral intern in psychology under the supervision of Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela, C.Psych. at Uprise Psychology & Wellness. My curiosity to understand human beings and the impact of their environments, thoughts and emotions on mental health initially led me to do research in psychology. My clinical work is primarily focused on the treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, motivational, existential and relational issues. I provide assessment and psychotherapy to adult and adolescent clients, all in an empathetic and caring environment.

Hi, I’m Jen! Are you a female with high-functioning anxiety or a trauma history? Outwardly, you seem okay, but beneath the surface, you may struggle with overwhelm, feeling on edge, overthinking, worrying, self-criticism, a nagging feeling of not being good enough, perfectionism, self-doubt, low self-confidence, not feeling able to enjoy the moment, and/or imposter syndrome? If you can relate to any of these concerns, I'm here to listen and help. I work with clients to help improve nervous system dysregulation caused by stress, trauma, or attachment wounds.

Trauma, immigration related difficulties, and anxiety psychotherapist. You may be considering therapy to understand yourself better, or you may be going through some intense emotional pain and want relief. The reasons you are seeking therapy could be due to depression, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, feeling ‘empty’ or ‘stuck’. At times it may feel like traumatic experiences from the past are still affecting you in unexplainable ways. You may have experienced a deep loss, it could be the loss of a loved one, one’s homeland, or the loss in terms of unlived life. Whatever your reason might be, your feelings are valid.

By using a trauma-informed, intersectional, and anti-oppressive lens, I hope to help you cultivate a greater sense of self-compassion and peace in the midst of a chaotic world.
Hi, my name is Andrea! I am passionate about supporting folks who navigate various intersections of systemic injustice; who don’t always fit into traditional molds; who have been diagnosed with ADHD or are curious about neurodiversity in themselves; and are going through transitions and a rediscovery of themselves. I want to honour your expertise by inviting you to co-create a safe space in which you can explore new paths, share your experiences and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I love building genuine human connection that can be foundational for new opportunities, healing and growth.

Trauma-focused care means having patience and prioritizing my clients' comfort, values, wellbeing and process.
You look around the crowded room full of friends, family, colleagues or strangers and think to yourself… How do they make it look so easy? Why can't I find that happiness within myself and surrounded by others? I know I have; it is part of the human experience to feel uncertain or lost at some point in our lives. Whether that be trauma from childhood or the present day, anxiety, depression, a breakup, marital stress or grief - I commend you for making it here onto my profile and courageously taking that first step.

I am a CSAT-candidate (Certified Sex Addiction therapist) and I help clients move from sex addiction to a healthy expression of sexuality, and work with spouses to resolve their betrayal trauma.
Hope changes everything, but sometimes life circumstances can make it difficult to find hope in the midst of what feels like overwhelming darkness. I offer a non-judgmental space to explore past and current issues that may be contributing to the feeling of hopelessness. I work with clients to help uncover the underlying issues that are driving problematic behaviours. Along with talk therapy I use mindful movement and creative interventions to allow clients a full range of expression, and a more holistic approach to healing and recovery. My approach is gentle, and client centred.

I work with individuals, families and couples struggling with trauma, relationship struggles, tough family dynamics and parenting. When you have experienced adverse events in your childhood or recent trauma you may have difficulties regulating your mood, feeling joy, advocating for yourself, and may often feel unworthy or undeserving of positive things. Life events can leave us worried about being both physically and socially safe, as well as lacking a sense of belonging. Anxiety is a common feeling, leading to low mood, anger, intrusive thoughts, failed or chaotic relationships. Living this way can lead to burnout.
