My approach to therapy is rooted in trauma-informed and integrating different modalities like CBT, SFBT, narrative therapy and psychodynamic theories to work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
Carl Jung quoted "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become". Are you looking to learn coping mechanisms to manage symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression or negative thoughts? Are you navigating life transitions and working towards achieving your life goals? Are you looking to work on past trauma, intergenerational cultural trauma or South Asian cultural trauma? Are you and your partner going through fertility treatments, in your perinatal or postnatal phase and looking for support during this journey? My lived experience inspired me to add this as a part of my service for individuals and couples counselling.

A relational, compassionate and skilled therapist, I integrate several strategies and techniques (including CBT, and Narrative) to meet the unique needs of my clients.
I work with families, individuals, couples, and groups to provide support for relationship turbulence, grief, anxiety/depression, and life transitions, including immigration struggles. Clients may come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by stress, sadness, anger, fear, self doubt, substance use, shame, and a diminished sense of self or worth. I help them realize that adverse situations do not define them. As we work together, they gain the skills to overcome obstacles and to build positive, reciprocal relationships of value and mutual respect.

, narrative therapy and solution focused therapy.
Sometimes life can feel hard, and many times, it can feel that we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, unnoticed, and unheard. Therapy can be a space for vulnerability, exploration, healing and growth, a space to share anything that’s on your mind knowing you will be supported, heard, and validated by a caring therapist. If are struggling with depression or anxiety, difficult relationships or/and life transitions, or perhaps you are struggling to find your place in an ever-changing uncertain world, therapy can help you find a way to move forward.

My therapeutic approach comes from Narrative Therapy blended in with Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, all woven together with my trauma-focused understandings of responses to harm and injustices.
Let’s get to the bottom of it. You’re feeling lost. Stuck. Off-course. Spinning. Spiraling. You suspect that you deserve to be feeling more free, more alive, and less burdened by stresses than you are now. Let’s follow that hunch, build on your own intuition, and try a new approach that goes beyond the surface-level “coping strategies” that don’t seem to make the difference that they did before. By finding clarity in what truly matters to you, and making intentional decisions aligned with those priorities, we can chart a more fulfilling path for you.

My practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Narrative Therapy.
I know that it's not easy to reach out for counselling and therapeutic support when life feels overwhelming and difficult in some or in many areas. This is why I work with individuals, couples and families in a spirit of profound respect and compassion at all stages of the therapeutic process. My approach to helping clients in therapy is to create an emotionally warm and accepting space where we can explore what difficulties you are encountering, what goals you hope to achieve and what resources and strengths are at your disposal that you may have forgotten or not be aware of.

Our past experiences, especially those from childhood, can really leave their mark on our adult lives. But here’s the thing: you don’t have to carry that weight forever. I would be honoured to work with you to process some of your most challenging childhood moments and give you a fresh start in your adult life. Through a strength based, narrative therapeutic approach I listen to people’s stories and support them in hearing their inner voice.
I believe conflict within ourselves, and our relationships are a part of life; it’s how we prepare and respond to issues that truly determines how we move forward in life. Our unique identities inform how we feel, think, and behave. As a trauma informed therapist, I work relationally with people to build strength and skill in handling unwanted feelings and situations. I believe everyone has the capacity for healing and autonomy.

I have post graduate training in EMDR, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Method Therapy, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing.
Sometimes life can have us feeling bogged down in the same negative patterns, feeling blocked or disconnected from our own sense of contentment, strength and joy. Often we walk the path of life, thinking we are making progress, only to find we have circled back to the same struggles. When we find ourselves in this place it can be wise to reach out for help. I see therapy as a place to uncover the roots of what is feeding our present concerns and to heal these roots in order to make positive lasting changes.

Narrative Counsellors
Is narrative therapy evidence-based?
Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.
How long does narrative therapy last?
Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.
Does narrative therapy work?
Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds — perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.
What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?
Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
