Approaches may include: EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT, ACT, Brief/Solution, EFT, Grief/Loss, Mindfulness.
IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITY - that there is a way to think differently; to feel differently; to live differently. Within each of us, we possess the tools we need to heal & be happy. But sometimes we make unhealthy choices in order to cope with emotional &/or physical pain. Despite our best intentions we can spiral downward, negatively impacting our relationships, careers, physical health & lifestyle. I believe that with support, change can happen. I am registered with a Master of Social Work & over 30yrs of clinical experience in the areas of trauma, addictions, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, parenting, life transitions & mindfulness.

I am a Registered Social Worker & Psychotherapist with extensive post graduate training in CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, DBR, and EMDR.
Sometimes life can have us feeling stuck in the same difficult patterns, feeling disconnected from our self & our sense of meaning, connection, presence and contentment. We may find ourselves on life’s path, believing that we are making progress, only to find that we have journeyed back to the same struggles. When we find ourselves here, it may be time to reach out for support. I believe that therapy gives us the space to delve below our current experience, into the root causes that are feeding our present challenges. When we experience healing at the roots, we can make lasting positive changes in our lives.

With extensive training in CBT, DBT, EFT, Gottman Relationship Therapy, and Clinical Hypnotherapy, and as a certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA approved consultant, I’d like to use the skills and insights that I’ve sharpened over the course of my career to help you break negative cycles in your life and step into deeper levels of intimacy with your partner.
As a therapist, one of my most deeply held beliefs is that each of us has the potential to live our best life. We can do this when we learn how to remain calm and collected in stressful moments, identify and detach from unhelpful thought patterns, and develop the courage to change behaviours that keep us stuck in negative cycles. Sometimes we’re able to do this on our own, and other times - especially when we feel routinely overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, and discouraged - we need someone to walk alongside us to help us figure out how to regain control of our emotions, rekindle our hope, and navigate life’s inevitable difficulties

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches including Narrative Therapy, ACT, CBT, IFS, and EFT to help you regain balance and agency in your life.
Life can pull us in many directions, and with all the tasks we juggle, it’s no wonder we sometimes lose sight of who we are and what we truly need. In our sessions, we’ll explore your emotions, thoughts, and even those feelings you didn’t realize were there. You're on a journey to better understand yourself, make sense of where you've been, and carve out a path that feels right for you. Your story is uniquely yours, and I’m here to offer insight, reflection, and support as you navigate its twists and turns toward growth and clarity.

Waitlist for new clients
I work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan and draw heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) techniques.
****** Waitlist is currently 3-6 months ****** Walking beside people through their therapy journey is a great privilege and I can't imagine myself doing anything else. I have been a therapist for over ten years and get told over and over again by my clients how easy it was for them to let their guard down, to build trust and comfort, and to begin to transform their hopes for therapy into meaningful growth and change. I exude warmth and genuineness and I know that great therapy cannot happen without a strong relationship between client and therapist.

Emotionally Focused Counsellors

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
