Immigrating to Canada at a young age, I am keenly aware of the struggle to learn a new language and fit-in, in a new culture. Life transitions are hard. Our brains are wired for normalcy and routine - that is what we perceive as safe. When we are forced outside our comfort zones (whether willingly or not), the adjustment period can be overwhelming. If you would like someone to walk alongside you with this transition, it would be my honour. As a Muslim, and woman of colour, I began my journey as a therapist to provide more representation in the field, so people like you and I can work with therapists who understand.
