My professional experience includes working with a wide range of therapeutic issues, such as: depression, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, cultural-specific issues, LGBTQIA+ specific issues, life transitions, interpersonal issues, and more.
I believe mental health must recognize individualism. This is influenced by my own experiences as a first-generation Indo-Canadian. My key values include empowering clients while creating a safe, collaborative approach. You are the storyteller of your life, and my role is to support you while you write, edit, and enhance the pages. My clients have shared that I provide a genuine, non-judgmental presence and atmosphere while they explore their thoughts and emotions, gain insight into their behaviours, and develop effective steps to enhance their well-being. You can expect a therapeutic setting that is professional, yet relaxed.

I help individuals who are seeking to address the root of their suffering by breaking the cycles of trauma and emotional repression. I offer an embodied approach to shadow work and supporting the awakening process. This often begins by learning how to get out of our heads and into our bodies. Insights naturally arise when we begin to get beneath our limiting beliefs and assumptions and come into contact with the energetics of our direct experience. Some common areas of exploration include healing relationships, trauma, emotional reactivity, deconstructing the ego, and awakening to your true nature.

My therapeutic approach is relational, embodied, and trauma informed.
Life can be hard sometimes. Maybe you’re feeling sad, stuck or overwhelmed right now. Often when we’re struggling it can be hard to reach out for help or talk about it with family or friends, especially if we’re met with comments like “just get over it” or “why can’t you move on?” In therapy, I will not make those statements, and will listen without judgment, so that we can explore what’s going on in your life and how you’re feeling about it. With compassion, I will support you to consider what might be holding you back or keeping you feeling stuck, and with this awareness comes the opportunity to experiment with new possibilities.

I have ten years of experience in the field of social work specializing in sexual trauma.
Have you experienced trauma? Do you oscillate between feeling overwhelmed and anxious, to numb and detached? Do you think that you will never measure up or be "good enough"? We adapt to our environment as a means of ensuring our survival. Perhaps you've learned to adapt by withdrawing from others, or neglecting your own needs. It may have helped to stay endlessly busy, never allowing yourself a break, or using aggression to protect yourself. Regardless of how you have adapted or coped with what happened to you, I firmly believe we can heal from trauma and find inner peace.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
