You’re afraid of repeating mistakes from the past, and feel guilty for not being the parent you imagined you’d be.
When you dreamed about getting pregnant and having kids, you hoped it would be an easy process. You’d conceive quickly, have a healthy baby, your body would work as you expected, you’d feel in control of the birth process. You expected that parenting would feel intuitive, you would know what to do to meet your child’s needs, the act of parenting would bring you and your partner closer. The reality is that conception, birth and parenting can be full of regret, disappointment, and confusion. Unmet expectations around conception, birth and parenting can leave you feeling disconnected, full of grief and carrying a heavy load.

In addition to healing individual pain and supporting intact, blended and single- parent families, I offer special understanding to families of Holocaust survivors.
It is my pleasure to offer private services to individuals, couples, and families. Psychological therapy is a compassionate and insightful process to help achieve your goals, find greater contentment and optimize your relationships. Drawing from over 40 years of clinical experience, I individualize an approach to best suit your personal needs and circumstances. We then move forward from self-defeating choices, painful feelings and emotional impasses.

I offer individual and family therapy specializing in family conflict, parenting, separation and divorce, anxiety, depression, self-harm, peer conflict, school difficulties and trauma.
For the past 15 years I have worked with youth and families who are struggling with a variety of mental health issues or relationship difficulties. Often the clients I support are families who are experiencing conflict, whose members are feeling disconnected or teenagers and young adults who are struggling with intense emotions and engaging in behaviours that are concerning to themselves or their caregivers. I work well with people who are interested in transforming themselves and their relationships rather than those who are focused on symptom reduction alone. In addition, I work with adults who have experienced childhood trauma.

As a professional and parent, I understand completely how the pressures of life cause feelings of anxiety, depression, stress and lack of control.
The reality is that every life is full of ups and downs. Our challenge in the short time each of us has on this planet is to make the most of it by relishing in the ups – and working through the downs so we can come out on the other side as a better, happier and more enlightened person. Which is where I come in. I’m a registered social worker, psychotherapist. I am also a lawyer who formerly practiced family law for almost 10 years. My passion as a therapist is to help people live their authentic life and make sense of the challenges they encounter along the way.
