In addition to healing individual pain and supporting intact, blended and single- parent families, I offer special understanding to families of Holocaust survivors.
It is my pleasure to offer private services to individuals, couples, and families. Psychological therapy is a compassionate and insightful process to help achieve your goals, find greater contentment and optimize your relationships. Drawing from over 40 years of clinical experience, I individualize an approach to best suit your personal needs and circumstances. We then move forward from self-defeating choices, painful feelings and emotional impasses.

I have experience and training in Parent- Child attachment, Trauma, Anxiety, Stress disorders, Depression, Grief and the management of ADHD; I normally use a theoretically integrative approach.
You need someone who would help you feel less "stuck" with something that took over many important aspects of your life, and you would like to learn about yourself through your strengths and potentials rather than diagnoses and symptoms only? As a therapist I am working with clients for more than a decade and it still fascinates me how resourceful and committed people can be in their therapy. We choose goals, set the pace and tailor strategies together. You don't have to come "ready" the only expectation is that you are still somewhat curious about what could happen in your life.

Areas of specialty include life transitions (separation, divorce), grief and loss, anxiety, and care-giver support ( parenting, caring for elderly parents, or partners with dementia, etc.
Are you feeling stuck and having a hard time seeing your way forward? A change in your life can leave you feeling hopeless, empty, confused, or lost. Finding yourself in a new role, or a new phase of life (being a student, living on your own for the first time, finding yourself as a caregiver), ending a relationship, or loosing a loved one, may throw you on a path that you didn’t expect and have a hard time navigating. Right now, you can't see your way forward, but you want to find a way through the weeds so you don't feel so bogged down and overwhelmed.

I am a psychotherapist-in-training. My particular psychotherapy focus is on relationships, parenting, teens, and individuals confronting challenges in a relationship with a partner, child or parent. These primary connections in our lives can be both demanding and fulfilling. It is frequently those closest to us who evoke our most intense emotional responses. I define define "people in relationship" as couples, siblings, parents/children, co-parents, divorced people who are connected by children or other factors, etc.

I have several years of experience working with adolescents, young adults and families on challenges related to stress, anxiety, emotion regulation, relationship issues, grief, parenting, family conflict and life transitions. I offer a gentle, caring and compassionate approach. I believe in the relationship between therapist and client to help individuals to reflect, explore and grow in order to develop successful relationships outside of therapy. Together, we can make sense of thoughts and feelings and connect them to previous and current experiences to change unhelpful patterns so that you can be your best self.

“Everyone wants to hold the new baby. Who holds the mom?” Motherhood is the ultimate personal development experience, but it can be a lonely one. Whether you are preparing for motherhood, struggling to conceive, feeling scared or unsupported in your pregnancy, experiencing birth trauma, or suffering with feelings of depression or anxiety as a new parent, mental health in the perinatal journey is just as important as physical health and recovery.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and selective mutism, autism, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, OCD, personality disorders (including borderline personality disorder), relational and parent/child attachment disorders, gender and identity issues, and emotion dysregulation challenges - among many other things!.
Hi, I'm Dr. Sharon Chan, a Clinical Psychologist registered in Ontario to provide services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. I'm excited to be part of the MindFit team, a leading 30+ clinician private practice, or what I prefer to call a "mental health gym". Seeking support can be stigmatizing and impersonal - but it doesn't need to be! Just like a typical gym, MindFit is designed to be accessible and inviting to anyone looking to improve their emotional well-being. I use effective, evidence-based treatments and most importantly, do everything I can to ensure you feel supported, accepted, and valued.
