While I am trained in numerous techniques and use a variety of methods (including Intensive Short-Term Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR, Emotional Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology & Mindfulness), I respect the uniqueness of every individual and will always implement a tailored approach that caters to specific individual needs.
In my years of practice, my focus has been centred around individuals from different walks of life (i.e race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc). Particularly, ones who have trauma, body image issues, low self esteem, fibromyalgia, phobias and/or are anxious, depressed, stressed, destructive, angry, lonely, abused and in or have been in the child welfare system. In regards to my approach, I am genuine and compassionate, but remain equally honest and direct. Rather than bombarding clients with endless questions, I aim to engage them through meaningful methods and effective interventions.

I use an integrative, relational, mind-body approach and have specialized in complex trauma and dissociation, having trained extensively in EMDR, DBR, Structural Dissociation (parts work), Here+Now Work & somatic-relational modalities such as the Hakomi Method.
It’s not always easy being human, is it? I find that the greatest gift of therapy, when there is a strong air of compassion, presence and curiosity in the therapeutic alliance, is the ability to reclaim our needs, our full range of feelings, our joy and our aliveness. While building skills of mindfulness, self-compassion, and embodied awareness, I believe there is immense possibility that lies in our unfolding wholeness, waiting to be discovered - creative choice made more accessible, when we're less held back by our fears, our core beliefs, and pain that we've had to organize around to survive.

It’s not that you can’t let it go, it’s that you don’t know how to… yet! We’ll use research-based techniques like EMDR and CBT to help you process, integrate, and move beyond your negative experiences.
It feels as if your negative experience is stuck to your brain like a barnacle on a ship. You try not to think about it but every day there’s something that reminds you of what happened. You find yourself ruminating in the shower and becoming irritated or overwhelmed by minor inconveniences. You feel anxious, sad, angry, and distressed. Maybe you’re even experiencing physical symptoms. You wish you could simply “let it go” but you just… can’t. The ghosts of your past have robbed you of your present and you’re terrified that they’ll steal your future as well.

My approach includes: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Attachment-focused family therapy; Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
If you are ready to dive into your healing journey - to understand the patterns and where, why and how you are stuck, and how to get unstuck - then I might be the therapist for you. My approach is different - I offer longer therapy sessions (often 90 minute sessions) so that we can get to the deep healing work that is often required for you to make the shifts that you want for yourself. We go at the pace you need but with longer sessions we tend to get there more quickly, allowing you to get on with your life in the ways that align with your values, goals and vision for yourself.

I am trained in eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR); cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT); dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based therapies.
Many of us have life experiences that shake up our worlds and dramatically transform how we see ourselves. They may be relationship breakdowns, major traumas, the loss of a family pet, becoming a parent, or receiving a life-changing diagnosis. These challenges can leave us feeling overwhelmed and oftentimes isolated - know that you are not alone. My role is to help you to feel heard, make sense of difficult experiences, as well as teach you strategies to cope with distressing thoughts and emotions that accompany trauma and anxiety. Together we can work towards reconnecting you with who you are and the life you wish to lead.

I am a cisgender woman, with Mi’kmaw and Settler roots; as a result, the holistic therapy I provide is rooted in an anti-oppression approach. I was lucky enough to earn a Master of Social Work from the University of Buffalo. I chose that program because, unlike most other programs, it offered a specialty in utilizing a Trauma-Informed Focus. I was also trained in using EMDR. I have six years’ experience providing therapy; first in the USA and now in Canada. I’ve also provided services in community settings like the youth justice system and a community task force created to help deal with the human trafficking epidemic.

I am a relational psychotherapist. I would describe my way of working as integrative which means that I draw from all my trainings to work out how best I can help you. I am trauma informed and am also influenced by psychodynamic, person centred, self-psychology and humanistic theories. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients with a wide range of presenting issues although I have a particular interest in working with women with ADHD. I have recently trained in attachment focussed EMDR which I am enjoying incorporating into my client work.
I am a relational psychotherapist. I would describe my way of working as integrative which means that I draw from all my trainings to work out how best I can help you. I am trauma informed and am also influenced by psychodynamic, person centred, self-psychology and humanistic theories. My eclectic and person-centred approach draws heavily on evidence-based scientific modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Trauma (EMDR, CPT, ACT & ART), Positive Psychology, Existential-Humanistic, and Relational-Cultural Theory.
Navigating the different pathways of life can be challenging, and often, no one understands your story, and you may feel lost in figuring things out on your own. I am here to SUPPORT you because you haven't come this far to stay stuck here! Like Michael Jordan, "Obstacles do not have to stop you. You don't turn around and give up if you run into a wall. You figure out how to climb, go through, or work around it." As an experienced therapist, I can challenge you to become the best version of yourself by creating a customized treatment plan to help you achieve optimal mental health. I am accepting NEW Clients (individuals & couples).

I work relationally, integrating elements of Emotion-Focused, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, mindfulness, and body-based therapies to help guide individuals towards solutions that are healing and empowering.
I see you as the expert of your own experiences. I begin with meeting you where you are and work collaboratively with you to establish a strong therapeutic relationship. Foundational safety and trust is central to your healing process. My role is to bear witness, encourage you to look inward for insight and to explore patterns in your life. Together we can build internal resiliency for greater depth and richness.

Do you find past trauma affecting your day-to-day life? Are you looking for a safe space to discuss challenges you might struggle to put into words? Perhaps it’s hard to recognize the roots of uncomfortable feelings and everyday struggles, but you know you don’t want to feel the way you do. I started ThriveWell Counselling in 2017, with the unwavering belief in the possibilities of moving from Surviving to Thriving. As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), EMDR Certified Therapist and Clinic Owner, I believe that counselling and psychotherapy are often an integral part of healing and learning to not only thrive, but to thrive well!
