Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy is my primary treatment modality but I also incorporate aspects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Schema Therapy.
I work with adults across the lifespan who are highly motivated to learn more about themselves, active participants in their recovery, and committed to making meaningful changes in their life. Whether they're struggling with a mental disorder, a significant life stressor, relationship difficulties, or challenges at work or home, my clients want to improve how they're coping, not let their struggles define them, and evolve into a better version of themselves.

I use Adlerian, DBT, CBT, ACT, body based Trauma therapy and solution focused interventions to process pain, teach skills and create a new, more compassionate experience of yourself and others.
I grew into this work through personal experiences of challenge and change that allowed me to connect deeply to what people most need in challenging times. I was raised in West Africa, and then trained, lived and worked in the US (UCSF and Adler School), India, and Canada (Queens) during my Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My global upbringing, diverse training and in-depth trauma experience are the lenses that guide my therapeutic approach. I don’t take it lightly that I have the privilege and responsibility of meeting people often at their most vulnerable moments of their lives to provide the healing they deserve.

I also utilize strategies and components of Cognitive Behavioural and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, as well as Mindfulness based approaches.
I am registered with the College of Psychologists (CPO) and all of my services include clinical supervision with CPO registered Psychologists, which inform my continued professional development. Research in the area of 'common factors' emphasizes the client-therapist relationship and factors that are unique to you and your life circumstances as important predictors for therapy success, and it informs my approach to support you in creating positive change. I meet clients non-judgmentally, and my approach is uniquely dynamic, collaborative, and solution-focused, with therapeutic presence and authenticity.

Hi, I’m Maya – I’m so glad you’re here, taking this step in finding a therapist to support you and your needs. I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach to create a safe, warm, and compassionate space for you to develop further insight into yourself – past challenges, current thought patterns, and difficult emotions. We will work together to identify your goals for therapy; in doing so my hope is to help you increase your awareness of and compassion for challenges you may experience, and support you to feel empowered in making helpful and hopeful shifts in your own life, one day at a time.

I integrate strategies from Emotion-Focused, Dialectical Behavioral, and Sensorimotor psychotherapies, depending on individuals’ unique needs, strengths, and goals.
I am a registered clinical psychologist. I provide individual therapy and psychodiagnostic assessments to adults. My practice is geared towards people navigating challenges related to trauma, depression, anxiety, emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties, self-esteem and identity concerns, grief, life transitions, and a desire for personal growth. My clients seek help because old coping strategies are no longer serving them, or because patterns from past relationships are causing problems in the present. Many are feeling limited by longstanding beliefs, stuck in painful emotions, or overwhelmed with difficult circumstances.

My therapy toolkit is filled with skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, and more.
Growing up, I just assumed everybody didn’t like themselves. I thought there were people that were open about not liking themselves, and then the rest of us pretending to like ourselves. It was the work I did in therapy that helped me learn there was this wild third option of “actually liking and appreciating myself”. Now I have the joy of sharing that with people as they learn they don’t have to feel so angry, worried, afraid, sad, or guilty all of the time.
