Mindfulness teaches us how to relate to ourselves with kindness. I understand how the struggle to avoid or control difficult experiences can leave you feeling like your own worst enemy. Mindfulness is a different strategy. It's about learning to feel at home in our own bodies and our minds - even in times of trouble. My work is grounded in my own personal practice: a 20 year meditator with 14 years as a mindfulness educator, I'm a graduate of a Buddhist seminary with a master's degree in Counselling psychology and specialized training in working with trauma and abuse.

Stepping into therapy can be evocative. It invites us to delve into our inner world and befriend parts of ourselves who we discover - often the hurt, hidden, and hopeful. I join you for this journey as your guide and am committed to embodying collaboration, warmth, playfulness, curiosity, and compassion. In our space we will safely weave together your stories, explore meaningful insights, and experiment with new ways of being, feeling, and relating. My approach to care is rooted in anti-oppressive, intersectional, and trauma-informed frameworks. I also bring years of experience as a queer musician and music therapist into my work.

I am a family systems therapist who works with youth, parents and couples who have experienced various mental health challenges or are facing stress and anxiety due to relationship conflict. The families I tend to support are often feeling disconnected from one another and stuck in patterns of relating that often intensify their existing challenges. The foundation of my work is in building relationships where clients feel seen, heard and understood, allowing them to draw on their internal strengths. My role as a social worker is to help clients understand themselves and their relationships in a way that supports authentic growth.

Do you struggle with constant rumination or worry? Do you experience self-doubt, or find yourself to be your own harshest critic when it comes to your thoughts, feelings, or actions? Do you experience mood swings, or struggle to express and identify your own emotions? Anxiety and low mood can be powerful emotional states, but they do not have to continue controlling your life. I work with youth and adults experiencing mood disturbances, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, stress, relationship challenges, and more. I also support people struggling with ADHD, challenges with substance use, and histories of trauma.

Feeling stuck or weighed down by anxiety or depression? Do you sometimes feel alone and as though everyone else seems to be doing better than you are? Perhaps you constantly worry about the future and wonder how you will manage, or frequently have the thought, “I am not good enough.” Are you feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope? I firmly believe that everyone deserves support when they are struggling and that no one should have to deal with such challenges on their own. I can help.

Many people seek relief from struggles and a deeper connection with themselves and others. As a psychotherapist, I strive to create a warm, empathetic environment where clients feel understood and supported. Therapy isn't about fixing but embracing a journey of self-discovery and growth through compassion and acceptance. I offer genuine care, providing a safe space for exploring thoughts and emotions without judgment. Together, we will navigate past wounds and find the power to embrace your strengths and vulnerabilities. The goal is for you to find the emotional freedom to live authentically and to joyfully align with your true self

Our life is lived interpersonally – family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances – it’s impossible to escape the influence of others judgements on our sense-of-self. If you're not secure in yourself, you likely don't feel very secure or satisfied in your relationships. This is when problems like people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-criticism, imposter syndrome, etc., can take over. I believe these parts of us are trying to protect us from rejection (‘walking on egg shells’, second-guessing, self-blame), but often they end up hinder our ability to engage in the world in way that feels fulfilling and authentic.

If you're familiar with the somatic experiences of anxiety and or depression, symptoms of trauma, overwhelm, stress + relationship challenges, then you've landed in the right spot. If you're hoping to reduce the distress in your life that surrounds particularly experiences and relationships, feel more energized and accepting of self, you've also landed in the right spot. Connecting with a therapist where you there's a mutual fit in the therapeutic relationship continues to be the best indicator of outcomes in therapy. As a relational practitioner, I hold this to high regards while knowing that you deserve good therapy.

Are you experiencing feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, grief and other overwhelming emotions? Are you navigating the lasting effects of trauma and its impact your identity and relationships? Often our symptoms are part of survival mechanisms that helped us in the past. Unfortunately, they can lead to unwanted behaviours in our present lives that can cause us shame and self-loathing. What you really deserve is compassion and care towards your pain. It takes a great deal of courage to embark on a path of healing and growth, and I consider it a privilege to work along side you throughout your journey.

At a time when many people feel more alone and less heard than ever, I warmly invite you to tell your story. I’m a Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience, guiding and treating individuals who struggle with anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, grief, trauma, unwanted change, and relationship difficulties. What my clients often discover is that the stress and doubts weighing them down also help reveal their hidden and lost needs – the opening page of a new road map.

Greetings! I’m Samantha and I’m the founder of Curated Counselling: a practice built on a personalized and compatible counselling experience. Miriam Webster’s Dictionary defines “curated” as: “carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized and presented” - which is precisely what Curated Counselling brings to the table. In a mental health culture of cookie cutter and “one size fits all” approaches to healing, I strive to provide my clients with a personalized experience tailored to them and their individual needs.

I understand the ways in which ADHD and trauma can impact our emotions, relationships, and self-concept; where feelings of overwhelm, guilt, shame, frustration, and anger can leave us feeling stuck and isolated. I can help you make sense of your past and how it may be influencing you today; allowing you to approach these stuck points in new ways.
