Hello and welcome! I'm a queer, transmasculine therapist with a background in health and community-based work, as well as in music, writing, and theatre. I draw upon a range of strengths-based and trauma-informed therapy approaches with the intention of increasing my clients' capacity to safely connect to themselves and to move toward ways of living and relating that affirm them in their wholeness. I aim to be an active and supportive presence in the therapy process, and to work in a way that is guided by the political frameworks I value in my everyday life: anti-oppression, harm reduction, and abolition.

I have always believed that humans can heal and self-regulate when they become aware of the processes they lead from the inside out. Improving emotional well-being can be challenging for many, and I am aware that resources can be limiting when it comes to seeking professional help. Honoring how passionate I have always felt about what I do, I offer sliding-scale pricing services, recognizing the diversity in economic privileges and the lack thereof as well.

Do you ever feel alone, unsafe, scared, or guilty? Even when things seem okay? It is incredibly common for one part of our brain to feel that things are wrong, even if we don’t fully understand why or know what to do about it. This is particularly true for those who have experienced trauma in their lives - whether that a specific traumatic event or the trauma of living in an oppressive, racist, transphobic, homophobic, and ableist system. In my personal and professional life as a queer, brown, and trauma-focused therapist, I have seen that therapy can help us process our past experiences and create a space for us to heal.

I provide trauma focused treatment as needed.
For the past 15 years I have worked with youth and families who are struggling with a variety of mental health issues or relationship difficulties. Often the clients I support are families who are experiencing conflict, whose members are feeling disconnected or teenagers and young adults who are struggling with intense emotions and engaging in behaviours that are concerning to themselves or their caregivers. I work well with people who are interested in transforming themselves and their relationships rather than those who are focused on symptom reduction alone. In addition, I work with adults who have experienced childhood trauma.

You look around the crowded room full of friends, family, colleagues or strangers and think to yourself… How do they make it look so easy? Why can't I find that happiness within myself and surrounded by others? I know I have; it is part of the human experience to feel uncertain or lost at some point in our lives. Whether that be trauma from childhood or the present day, anxiety, depression, a breakup, marital stress or grief - I commend you for making it here onto my profile and courageously taking that first step.

Hello! I'm Anna Lukomsky (she/her), a registered social worker and trauma therapist with over 15 years of experience helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges. Throughout treatment I emphasize safety above all else; guiding people to learn to feel safe in their lives, in their bodies and in sessions with me. I create a supportive environment that fosters personal growth through warmth, humour, compassion, and gentle patience; letting clients set a pace that works best for them; from the very start showing them they have everything they need to heal already within them, waiting to be acknowledged and seen.

If you've experienced sexual abuse (rape, childhood sexual abuse, harassment) it's likely you noticed changes in how you think, feel and act. Maybe you believe that you deserve what happened or that you should have done something to stop it. You may see the world as a dangerous place and people as untrustworthy. You're likely on edge, hypervigilant and feel out of control of your emotions - or maybe you don't feel them at all. You can't sleep, relationships are difficult, you feel haunted by your memories, sex and intimacy aren't as they used to be, and it feels like nothing you've tried works. I get it and I want to help you heal.

Sometimes we are looking for change, figuring out our next step, or getting stuck and not living our lives fully. There could be moments of deep emotional pain and struggle when we feel alone and vulnerable, facing isolation, grief, loss or insecurities in important relationships. Not always we see clearly how to tackle those and we want to have someone to check with, be heard and seen, or get ideas for new directions. Learning to face inevitable life challenges, upsets, and crises of existence with confidence is what therapy is all about.

“Owning our own story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it”, Brene Brown. We’re not meant to struggle alone. For many of us, emotions can be frightening and overwhelming, hard to connect to and identify. That said, showing up for ourselves is the hardest, most important work we will ever do. Whether you're facing challenges in your family, relationships, career, or health, managing the intense emotions that arise can be difficult. I am here to support you.

One of the many things I can appreciate about our society is how people come from different walks of life - we all have a story. These stories, or worldviews, are what shape our personalities and how we perceive and overcome the various obstacles that life may throw at us. I also understand how beginning therapy can be daunting, so I provide a validating and non-judgemental environment with the goal of making clients as comfortable as possible. Helping clients explore their emotions and navigate any problems they may have, together, has always been a passion of mine.

The focus of my work is supporting people to discover, befriend, and transform old ways of being. Through exploring personal narratives, habitual responses, and the subconscious terrain, we work together to create fresh space and open to new ways of being. Sessions with me involve talk therapy with somatic exercises, Brainspotting, parts work and hypnotherapy woven in as is supportive and appropriate. I am warm and grounded, and keep the session energy flowing through active inquiry and deep listening. Working at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you is key, and so I regularly check in to ensure that this is your experience.

Shé:kon! I'm an Indigiqueer, trauma-informed and open-minded practitioner who will affirm your strengths and experiences. People see me because they want support with concerns such as coping with the world, anxieties, fears or intergenerational trauma. Or maybe folks have identities, behaviours and relations that no longer serve them: maybe they would like to cut down on drinking or leave a relationship or enter a new line of work. They are looking for someone who offers gentle, non-judgmental and authentic support that is tailored for them and their needs.

Unresolved trauma, attachment injury, and old emotional wounds from the past create a fractured foundation. They affect our sense of self, make us feel empty inside, and lead us to believe that there is something terribly wrong with us. However, some symptoms that we experience as adults, such as excessive self-blame, addictive behaviours, anxiety, depression, a constant need to please others, sensitivity to rejection, and being easily overwhelmed, are caused by what failed to happen for us in childhood. Let me help you explore the part of you that was hurt and still carries the trauma and suffering.
