In addition to mindfulness-based practices like breathwork, meditation, and journaling, I use CBT, somatics, polyvagal theory, ACT, parts work, and inner child work to support individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, grief, trauma, and general stress.
If you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, and disconnected from yourself, you have come to the right place. Let me walk alongside you and offer you a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences and learn new, empowering ways of responding to your challenges. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Certified Yoga Teacher, and I blend mindfulness, neuroscience, and psychology with my own mental health and addiction recovery tools to offer clients a unique, holistic approach to healing. I've been where you are and I know this: you don't have to do this "work" alone.

Looking inward by using reserach-based approaches like IFS, EMDR, I will support you to see your strengths, values and beliefs to access your strengths to thrive.

I support teenagers and young adults who are ready to transform their relationship with anxiety and stress combining both traditional cognitive behavioural therapy with hypnotherapy which enables lasting change on the unconscious level.
Are you a teenager or young adult who worries a lot about the future? Are you often feeling sad, anxious or irritable seeking perfection in everything? Or could it be that you feel awkward and anxious in social situations where you don’t know the people well?
Do you feel hopeless and/or helpless in changing anything? How about a space for you to just press pause and be able to talk with someone neutral about these concerns and learn practical proven strategies that use the whole mind: the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind?

Using empirically tested therapies like CBT and DBT, combined with a bit of humanity, I help people navigate their issues and build resiliency for years to come.
You're not enjoying things like you used to. You don't have the confidence you once had. Simple things like going for a walk or having dinner with a friend seem so difficult. Whether these issues have crept up on you or they have always been present, you are realizing that you would like to do something about it. You don't want to feel down or anxious anymore. You're ready to do the work it takes to feel ok.

I implement techniques borrowed from EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Interventions.
One of the many things I can appreciate about our society is how people come from different walks of life - we all have a story. These stories, or worldviews, are what shape our personalities and how we perceive and overcome the various obstacles that life may throw at us. I also understand how beginning therapy can be daunting, so I provide a validating and non-judgemental environment with the goal of making clients as comfortable as possible. Helping clients explore their emotions and navigate any problems they may have, together, has always been a passion of mine.

I am a relational therapist with a depth-oriented perspective on exploration, while drawing on tools from cognitive therapies to address practical matters like emotional/behavioral regulation and navigating difficult relationships.
Einstein said, “No problem can be solved with the same level of consciousness that created it.” If you are feeling stuck and lacking the skills or insight to grow beyond your current situation, some new strategies could be required to make positive shifts. I work with clients who are ready to update their identity and transform limiting patterns of thought and behavior into wisdom and experience, and step into their authentic power. I believe that everyone has the resources within them to create a live that they love and that is uniquely their own.

I completed over 200 hours of supervised practice to register with CRPO, focusing on CBT and Motivational interviewing.
When I was 17 I began to have chest pains that were so sharp I couldn’t breathe. I went to the doctor thinking there was something wrong with me. His answer: "you’re just stressed". I had no idea why I was anxious, and nothing seemed to help. I began using addictions to cope with the anxiety, choosing the short-term relief despite the long-term consequences. Eventually those consequences forced me to seek help, and I began my recovery journey. That was eight years ago. Therapy has been life changing for me - I became more calm, happy and connected, and I began to wonder if this was something I could do for others as well.

I may draw from a variety of therapy modalities including: DBT, IFS, ACT, somatic work and CBT.
My name is Em Yule and I am a non-binary, queer and neurodivergent psychotherapist, RP (Q). It has been a goal of mine to provide affirming care to LGBTQIA+ folks through holding a safe space for folks to explore their experiences and emotions, free of assumptions that a cisgender identity and heterosexuality are the ‘norm’. To provide neurodivergent-affirming care, I am committed to holding a space that both celebrates your unique brain and affirms the unique challenges you may face, without assumption that your neurodivergence is something that needs to be ‘fixed’.

It can be difficult taking time to identify and process the challenges we collectively experience in our fast-paced “go go go” society. Taking a pause and being curious about ourselves is the first step in this journey. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, collaboration and non-judgment. I strive to cultivate a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts and emotions, feel seen and heard. I work primarily within a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness based framework to address various challenges, help individuals achieve their goals, and live more fulfilling lives.

My training and areas of practice include CBT, DBT skills, Psychodynamic/Trauma informed, Parenting, Couple/Family therapy, Group work.
The reasons for pursuing counselling are as unique as the individual seeking it out. There could be questions around an emerging identity, a difficult relationship or social issue, a separation/divorce or a child’s school difficulties or emotional distress. Whatever the presenting issue is for clients, there is most often over- whelming feelings of worry, sadness and confusion.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
