I am a psychotherapist who specializes in helping individuals heal from trauma, relationship issues, and other concerns. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including “Parts work” which is based on the idea that each person has many different parts to their minds and psyches. Each of these parts has unique needs, wants, and beliefs and may be consciously or unconsciously helping or harming us as we move through our days. I help my clients integrate the many pieces within them to create more choice, expand their capacity to problem-solve, and to give them a greater sense of wholeness and aliveness in their daily lives.

There are times in life, especially when you are feeling most vulnerable, that you need to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Though friends and family are great and have good intentions, what do you do when their support and advice do not result in relief or the lasting change you desire? My primary purpose as a therapist is to be a safe and reliable person for you to explore emotions, motivations and behaviours; to help you improve self-understanding and relationships with others; to process grief and trauma; and to find healthy ways to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and experience desired personal growth.

Are you overwhelmed by anxiety, self doubt, or meeting expectations? Have you noticed being so distracted that you aren't able to be present with who and what matters most? Or maybe you are facing a new life transition that is causing stress and uncertainty. Maybe you have decided to strengthen the relationship with yourself and others around you. Perhaps you want to find a way out of the same patterns that hinder you from being the most authentic version of yourself. I work with clients to help manage the self doubt and overthinking that hold them back, and to prioritize self without apology.

Finding a safe space to share what is really on our mind can be tough. Perhaps the closest relationships around us feel tense, and we could use a gentle place to work through our own feelings of pain, hurt, and overwhelm. In session with me, I offer a holistic, creative approach to your life. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgemental space for you to openly discuss your experience, to get back to those things most important to you. I work with teens and adults who are trying to take care of themselves while working through tough family and relationship issues. When you leave a session with me, I want you to feel heard.

and a relationship struggles that can effect and limit the quality of their lives.
When overwhelming emotions limit the pursuit of our responsibilities or passions in life there are effective strategies that can help regulate and minimize the emotional storms as well as provide the resilience needed to thrive in your life despite those storms. Life can be very difficult, unlike physical pain that is usually hard to ignore therefore treatment is sought after, emotional pain is unfortunately often ignored hoping it goes away. Anger, stress, anxiety, low moods, loss and relationship upheavals are all issues that can be better worked through with professional support through those storms. My name is Tim Kahtava, I

The mental health professionals at The Dot are trained in many different types of therapy that can help with issues related to trauma, grief, relationship issues (yes we do couples counselling) depression, anxiety and more.
It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

I work individually with adults and young adults, addressing a variety of concerns, such as signs of chronic stress and burnout, life transitions, workplace challenges, navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, chronic pain, concussion recovery.
It can be hard, at times, to balance all life demands. You might experience being disconnected from yourself and others. Maybe you find that your needs are at the bottom of your priority list. In times of uncertainty, more and more, it is not uncommon to face feelings of prolonged stress, anxiety and overwhelm. We mind find ourselves without options to cope, or that the strategies we usually resort to are not getting us far. We might feel getting close to burnout, being stuck on intricate conflicts, or even having to deal with the physical manifestations of distress, such as chronic illnesses and chronic pain.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
