Therapy shouldn't feel like a chore. While it might sometimes be hard to hear what is discussed in therapy, overall you should leave feeling like you've gained something useful or even transformative. Over time, you should feel you are getting stronger, more resilient and have shed layers of fear and anxiety. Of course this process can be overwhelming at times and you might not always progress on the timeframe that you thought you would, but when therapy goes well, you should feel more settled and more clear about your life. You should gain understanding about yourself and others and have a renewed sense of purpose and passion

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I’m so sorry that you’re looking for a grief therapist, and have a lot of respect for your courage. I’ve spent the last ten years deep in the muddy waters of loss, devoted to the skillful practice of grieving in community. I am a board-certified thanatologist who has studied grief from embodied, academic, cultural, and psychotherapeutic perspectives. I’ve worked with grief across various sectors— in hospitals and hospices, in community deathcare, as an apprentice farmer and Bruce Trail captain amidst an ongoing climate crisis, and on the frontlines of the opioid epidemic.

Are you quick to anger and can’t understand why? Tired of constantly hurting your loved ones? For men, anger is the most socially accepted emotion to express, but when you feel out of control and it’s too big or out of place, it comes with consequences, both external and internal. However, this anger is trying to tell you something, to alert you to important needs being ignored, shamed or suppressed. Many of us have learned to approach relationships in a way that leads to resentment, jealousy, hatred, fear or shame. Through greater access you can shift old patterns and evolve into a more genuine fulfilled version of yourself.

I work with people in their 20s, 30s & 40s, who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, burnout, life transitions, and/or big ( existential) questions.
If you're overwhelmed by anxiety, people pleasing, or perfectionism, or going through a life transition and feel lost in your sense of self, then, hi! Welcome. Maybe you’re feeling burnt out, frustrated, or like you can’t see light at the end of the tunnel. Do you hope life could be different, or dare I say, better? Do you want to make changes to stop overthinking, manage negative thoughts, develop coping skills, and learn to love yourself for who you truly are? Are you ready to live a life that feels authentic and peaceful? If you’re saying “yes, that’s me!”, then you’re exactly where you need to be & I want to help you get there.

I really enjoy working with clients motivated for growth and change, and curious about themselves; what makes them "tick". The depth of my craft involves creating and holding a therapeutic space or "container", enabling my clients to turn inwards and discover what moves them unseen. Patterns in personality and emotion emerge into view; emotional processes become unstuck and able to flow through to resolution. An inner space opens for something new. It is a tremendous honour and privilege to accompany and serve people on this journey as a trusted ally, a witness, and expert midwife of psychological change.

I have been providing therapy for many years and I consider it an honour to come along side others (individuals, couples and families) as they seek change and transformation. When you are faced with life's unexpected challenges, distress or overwhelming anxieties, seeking help and consulting with a therapist is a significant step.

Hi, I’m Angelica, a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging moments. I specialize in supporting people who are working through trauma, anxiety, depression, cultural adjustment, and major life transitions. As an EMDR therapist, I’m passionate about helping clients heal from past wounds, build resilience, and move forward with confidence. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works at the neurological level; it focuses on reprocessing unprocessed memories that are stuck and continue to trigger negative emotions or beliefs.

Existential Counsellors

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
