The mental health professionals at The Dot are trained in many different types of therapy that can help with issues related to trauma, grief, relationship issues (yes we do couples counselling) depression, anxiety and more.
It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

I approach therapy from a client-centered and relationship-focused perspective that emphasizes trust and a sense of safety in session.
I believe that we are all capable of making positive changes in our lives. My role as a therapist is to facilitate that process through warmth, understanding, and insight to help you see things in a new way. We can work together to identify meaningful and attainable goals, improve relationships and connection, develop confidence and self-esteem, and lessen feelings of sadness, anger, loneliness and hurt. After all, the more we understand about our experiences, feelings, motivations, and needs, the more we can make deliberate choices about how we want to live.

Together we can work on a single issue or many complicated ones. We'll move at the pace you are comfortable with and keep your goals at the forefront.

I look forward to consulting with you as we decide how to build this therapeutic relationship together.
I believe we are shaped by and have influence on the people and places around us. We can benefit from having someone from outside those circles reflect back what they see and hear in our stories. And in the sharing of those experiences, longings, pains, & celebrations, we are transformed-our perspectives altered, our roles adapted, our emotions claimed, and our direction clearer. I serve Individuals (12 years +) Couples & Families. Treating issues related to communication, stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression or mood changes, life transitions, blended families, grief & bereavement, self-esteem & boundary management, and trauma & abuse.

Are you feeling alone in your relationship, worrying that your needs will never be met? Despite your best efforts, you feel like your relationship is slipping away; words can’t seem to fully grasp how you’re feeling. You want to express yourself, but you worry that if you speak up things will get worse. In either situation, you may be asking yourself: am I the problem? You want to rekindle the feelings you once have. You want to feel seen, heard, and understood.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
