It can also help us to achieve our goals, excel in the workplace and most importantly, help us heal. I offer a safe and empowering space for you to be heard and to help you heal while tackling stress and challenges. We will work together to identify your goals, discover your inner strengths and build confidence. Most importantly, we will work to reset the balance in your life.

You do not have to suffer any longer - feeling trapped in an impossible situation, or being controlled by fear, anxiety or habits that affect your quality of life.
Feeling anxious, depressed, stressed-out, or just plain stuck? It is difficult to imagine any person at any age or stage of life who has not felt the impact of Covid. It has affected us not just as individuals, but also our family relationships, work lives, school lives, social lives and our ability to participate in the community. Social isolation and stress are major factors in depression and anxiety, and the rates of these have skyrocketed since the onset of Covid. Chronic stress, anxiety and trauma can lead to negative ways of coping, hurting ourselves and our relationships. Time to reinvent ourselves, create positive changes?

I also enjoy supporting folks through pet loss, anxiety, self-esteem/body image, life transitions, and health and wellness.
I know how important it is to have support, connection, and safety to explore life’s biggest joys, obstacles, and everything in between. I approach our work together from a client-centred, integrative, and holistic view; exploring possibilities to support all parts of the self: mind, body, and soul. My relationships are built through curiosity, compassion, and authenticity, and I also deeply believe in the power of joy, laughter, and play where it feels right. Together, we can create a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and questions.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, challenging relationships, loss of a sense of self, or trauma that affects your day-to-day life or relationships? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, lost by what it means to live up to someone else’s standards, just getting through the day, or the thought that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel? Do you hope that your days could be better? Now more than ever, children, teens, and adults are feeling uncertain. Not addressing these everyday challenges can lead to decreased quality of life. I believe there is hope and answers to having the life you deserve.

Many of us experience things in our lives that can have a great impact on how we live day to day. Sometimes these experiences can affect our mental and emotional health. When we struggle to cope with the impacts of trauma or invalidation, we might turn to alcohol, drugs or other means to forget or shut down how we are feeling.

Feeling stuck and disconnected from yourself? Are old patterns or traumatic experiences keeping you stuck? Looking to break up with that critical voice in your head? Trying to find that authentic version of yourself but just don't how or where to start? Or do you share the belief that therapy is good for the soul. I believe everybody needs support sometimes; the sooner we allow ourselves to access it, the less time we spend on auto pilot or in patterns suffering.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
