I hold a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Developmental & Educational Psychology. I specialize in helping teens and kids develop learning & motivational strategies that enable them to approach difficult challenges and transitions in their lives.

Claudine has been working with children and families for over a decade in many different roles, as a child protection worker, an advocate for new nursing moms, a crisis management worker with teenagers and their families as well as a parenting support counselor. Claudine mostly tends to draw from the person-centered approach when in a therapeutic relationship with clients. This means that she makes consistent efforts to meet each client "where they are" and to serve as a catalyst to each individual who is progressing through their unique process of self-discovery and self-identification.

I have over twenty years experience working with children/youth and their families with complex needs including trauma, divorce, anxiety, depression, addictions, grief and behavioural/social concerns. I use a warm, caring, non-judgemental approach in my work. I draw upon a variety of proven therapeutic strategies including Cognitive Behavioural, EMDR, Solution-Focussed, Family Systems therapy, Motivational Interviewing and other evidence based methodologies to assist clients in making positive changes in their lives.

Sometimes life can become riddled with difficulties, and we may need a guiding hand to help diffuse our troubles and rediscover our deepest personal meanings and values. As a therapist, I help you face your tough battles whether they stem from the past, present or future. I strive to help you tap into your inner world, and rediscover yourself through your strengths. I offer services to individuals (15+) who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. I also help clients with relationships, trauma, identity, existential concerns, grief, self-esteem, and self-acceptance. I support clients to develop an increased sense of self-awareness, self confidence and sense of direction.

At times, we have periods in our lives that are very challenging, seem slow moving or stagnant, and evoke intense experiences. Making the decision to begin counselling can be empowering, as it takes courage and a willingness to explore change. The cycle of seasons is a helpful metaphor in relating to cycles of change in one's life; a dynamic process that inherently carries potential for growth and renew. I accompany people in meaningfully learn about themselves and in cultivating tools to address what gets in the way of what they want for their life.

Brown Counselling was founded in 2016 with one mission in mind: to support our community through the provision of quality mental health services with minimal to no wait times. At Brown Counselling, we believe that every individual has the capacity for positive change and personal transformation.

I work from a holistic, trauma-informed stance, in which my role is to support clients in their journey of healing; body, mind and spirit are intertwined. I honour the sanctity of every human being, while seeing each individual existing within various webs of relationships with people, beliefs, and cultures. My experience as a therapist has taught me that many ailments and dysfunctions stem from an unmet fundamental need for connection, to self and others; to love and be loved, which can be experienced as feeling safe and simultaneously vulnerable. I draw on a variety of evidence-based practices, and spirituality, upon request.

I support people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, relationship conflict, crisis of meaning, and those seeking to reach their full potential in life. I provide Christian therapy that is biblically-based, holistic, strength-based, compassionate, and also informed by social-science. I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Social Worker. I draw from my education in clinical psychology, social work, and theology. I have over 10 years of professional experience helping people through the toughest of times, as well, my own lived experiences with overcoming serious life challenges. All fees are tax exempt with my RSW.
