Better regulation of the CNS can help with insomnia, anxiety, depression, PTSD and reduce symptoms of AD/HD, ASD and post-concussion syndrome.
I am a therapist and counselor with training in Neurofeedback, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, and the Expressive Arts. My approach is client-centered and I work with empathy and compassion to help my clients find new strategies when old patterns aren't working anymore. I have 20 years experience providing therapy and deep understanding to people struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges and other life issues. In addition to my clinical skills, I have years of meditation practice and experience teaching the mindfulness skills that can reduce stress and generate a new perspective on life.

I use a variety of modalities to meet client's needs, including CBT, DBT, Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused, and Trauma-Informed approaches.
In this high-paced world, people don’t take the time to sit and talk things through – especially their problems. I’m a strong believer in the importance of talking through your problems in order to process them and gain an understanding of not only your challenges, but also what’s important to you, your strengths, and your goals. I balance my approach of processing through dialogue with my love for concrete, practical interventions and strategies. My goal as your therapist is always to provide a non-judgemental space for you to explore your difficulties while also providing practical strategies to meet your needs.

I am both a Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) and a Registered Nurse. I have specialized training working with families during the perinatal period, couples, self-esteem, people-pleasing, shame, trauma, anxiety, and neurodivergence. For counselling to be successful, I believe treatment must be centered on learning from and with each person, respecting and valuing your unique experiences, and learning what is important to you. While every person will have their mental health affected at some point in their life, some at multiple points, I believe mental health is achievable for all.

You are seeking some insight and some ways to connect to meaning, to yourself, and to others. What would it be like to be fully engaged in life? Pema Chödrön says “When things are shaky and nothing is working, we might realize that we are on the verge of something”. The truth is, we all need help at times. With compassionate support, I will walk alongside you as we work on your life’s challenges so you may move forward with courage, confidence, and compassion.

I (She/Her/ Elle) am a bilingual Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a clinical focus on trauma, PTSD, stress management, and the provision of anti-oppressive therapeutic care.
Do you experience high stress levels and find it difficult to find a sense of calm? Do you find it difficult to move forward after an experience of trauma? Is it challenging to embody all parts of you? Experiences of trauma, including identity-based trauma, can wreak havoc on our lives and make us feel out of control. They are overwhelming and it can feel hard to know where to start. Having a safe space where you experience unconditional positive regard, empowerment and a sense of acceptance can start the healing process.

I am training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II) to help clients with Complex Trauma (C- PTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Mental health concerns often leave us feeling lost, helpless, and questioning who we are, no matter how they choose to present themselves (as traumatic memories, intrusive thoughts, depressive spirals, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, etc). I view my role as being two-fold: helping you cope in your daily life through new tools and strategies, and helping you heal the root of your mental health concerns to create long-term change. I work with adults and youth from a trauma-focused, holistic perspective that considers the mind/body connection, fosters self-compassion, builds inner resilience, and improves self-image.

My approach is relational, strength-based and trauma informed, with an anti-oppressive lens.
Engaging in the field of mental health and holistic practices for over 15 years has taught me that we have the internal capacity to manage our own well-being with co-regulation. If you find yourself emotionally, mentally or physically overwhelmed or life feels painful and unmanageable, support is available. If you find yourself wanting more capacity for life, focusing on your inner world and reflecting on your perceptions, belief systems and relational patterns will begin to create a pathway through to your inner self guidance, which spills over into your outer world experience.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
