I have worked with children and adolescents for most of my life and since becoming a mother, I expanded my work to parenting.
Sometimes when we are caught in one of life's toughest moments, we seek support. That support can look like how to process a situation, validation, a listening ear, problem solving, and so forth. Therapy can be many things or it can be one. I offer a client - centred approach with empathy. If you are looking for someone you can relate to, I am a parent to young children, I have experienced PPA/D, loss, abandonment, unhealthy relationships, and more. If you are interested in working together but still not sure, we can have a 15-20 minute chat to help you with that decision.

I aim to be trans parent and collaborative, and always strive to help make the client feel comfortable and free from judgment.
I often find that clients seek therapy as a last resort, because they've tried everything else and still find themselves stuck dealing with the same issues. It's not always easy to identify what is standing in the way, but it can be reassuring to know that once you have, change is possible. I help clients explore, understand, and navigate their experiences with depression, burnout, anxiety, low self-esteem, ADHD, interpersonal conflict, trauma, and life transitions (new/step parent, separation/divorce, and career changes). By learning about your motivations, needs and resources, you can improve self-regulation and flexibility.

My approach is holistic, integrative, and client-centred, grounded in various modalities and drawing upon my experiences as a mother, daughter, wife, sister, caregiver to a chronically ill parent, third-culture kid, immigrant, community builder, unlearner, and entrepreneur.
Life is a messy, unpredictable journey that requires us to navigate a whirlwind of emotions. The ups and downs, the highs and lows, are all part of what makes us human. This mix of emotions—moments of joy and heartache, clarity and confusion—is where we find meaning, growth, and the strength to keep moving forward. Embracing the messiness enables us to truly live, feel deeply, and discover ourselves in the process. I would be honoured to meet you where you are on your journey and help you release outgrown stories from the past in order to embody authenticity and break cycles, all while facilitating the healing and change you seek.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
