I offer evidence based, client centered individual therapy from an attachment/trauma-informed lens, using elements of various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Behavioural Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness, and Attachment-based interventions.
I have training in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation and self-harm, parent/child conflict, trouble at school, ADHD, parenting and general coping with stress at home and at work. My work is grounded on the principles of attachment, trauma and neurobiology. My approach is a balance of acceptance and change; ensuring to be client-centred while being firm and challenging at the same time. Each client is an individual and I will work with you to tailor a treatment program that meets your needs. Ultimately my goal is to work myself out of a job, meaning your goals have been met and you don’t need me anymore.

You are here because you are looking for something. Something that either reveals deeper aspects of who you are or shows that you are attempting to learn more about yourself. Being human is a messy journey filled with highs and lows, fears, stresses, and anxieties. Let's journey together as we navigate life's challenges and see what life can offer you. My experience is expansive as it ranges from therapy in the health care setting, to private therapy and supporting trauma clients. I have worked with a variety of clients but not limited to, mental health, palliative care, bereavement support, and long-term care clients.

Life can be challenging, but it's important to remember that healing is possible. I am a therapist who is dedicated to helping individuals overcome trauma, anxiety, and depression. If you feel stuck, then l could be the right match for you. My approach as a therapist is as simple as it sounds - we identify your goals and we find the best way to achieve these goals. I have been told that I am personable, professional, and at times humorous. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to therapy, and the concept of therapy itself is evolving.

The experience of developmental trauma creates a disconnection from one's self by forcing us into a predicament where we have to chose between acceptance and authenticity. As your psychotherapist, I employ a highly conversational and relational, trauma focused approach, to foster insight into the deep-seated roots, and functionality of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. My goal is to help you understand the ways you learned to protect your self and reconnect to and reclaim your authenticity.

We are a diverse team of over 50 licensed and experienced therapists! We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We help individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their heads that need to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

It is so easy to get caught up in the stress and circumstances of our lives. We sometimes begin to lose sight of the bigger picture and live life as though there are no solutions to our situations. I have worked with individuals and families who have gone through immense challenges, all of whom have inspired me to help those willing and ready to seek assistance. I am passionate about people and continue to be amazed by the courage and strength of others. I firmly believe that we all have the capacity to bring about positive changes in our lives. You do not have to go through your struggles alone. Support is available!
It is so easy to get caught up in the stress and circumstances of our lives. We sometimes begin to lose sight of the bigger picture and live life as though there are no solutions to our situations. Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
